    Chisox Slight Favorite Over Boston
The Red Sox open defense of their title in Chicago against an old favorite: Jose Contreras. The ex-Yankee has not had much success in his career against Boston (2-4, 11.67), although he did win his only start against the Red Sox this season. But his historical problems are offset by two recent factors. First has been his solid pitching down the stretch. He has an 11-2 record since the All-Star break with a 2.96 ERA and has won 12 of his last 14 decisions. The second has been the struggles of his counterpart, Matt Clement. Clement's season is almost the mirror image of Contreras. A strong first half (10-2, 3.85) gave way to a weak second half (3-4, 5.72). In September, Clement was just 1-3 with a 6.00 ERA in six starts. If his troubles continue, the White Sox are poised to ride Contreras' split-finger fastball to a Game 1 victory. Dunkel has Chicago favored by 1/2 a run with a run total of 10.
