      Tuesday's Games
Starting pitchers' stats aren't as critical as they are during regular season, since managers will have quicker hook in these playoff games. Fifth starters during regular season are now long men in bullpen; pitching quality is better.

Peavy is 3-1, 2.13 in his last six starts; he has 1.35 RA in his last four road starts. July 27, he allowed one run in 8 innings against Cardinals, in game Padres won later, 2-1. Under is 8-1 in last nine Peavy stats. At one point, Cards won 20 of 22 Carpenter starts, but in his last four starts, he is 0-2, 7.48, with all four going over. He beat Padres 11-3 on July 28, tossing seven innings. Cardinals are 9-1 in his last ten home starts.

Clement is 0-3, 7.25 in his last five starts; he started two games vs White Sox this year, giving up four runs in six IP in first one, a 6-5 Boston win, then was trailing 5-2 in fourth inning of second start, when game was rained out. Contreras is 8-0, 2.39 in his last eight starts. In his last nineteen starts, under is 12-4-3. Contreras beat Boston 6-4 July 24; he threw 5.2 innings, allowing three runs.

Colon started twice vs Bronx this year; first game was in game Rodriguez had ten RBI- Colon allowed ten runs in 3.2 IP. In his second start, Angels won 6-5, but Colon allowed all five runs in seven IP. Over is 3-1-1 in his last five starts, 4-0 in last four Mussina starts. Mussina may or may not be healthy; in last four starts, he has a 10.80 RA. He started three times vs Angels this year, twice in six days in July; he was 1-2 in the three starts, with 3.80 RA.

        Tuesday's game
North Texas lost its last two games by combined score of 108-9; they're in Sun Belt now, though, where they've not lost a game (loss to Troy last year was a non-league game) Home side won both series meetings, with Troy winning last year, 18-16, as 6-point favorite, but losing two years ago, 21-0, as 10-point dog. North Texas has covered 11 of last 13 conference home games, and 13 of last 17 as a home favorite. Troy lost its last three in row by combined score of 124-48; they had minus-10 turnover ratio, with no takeaways in those losses. Not a lot to choose from in this Tuesday night TV game.
