  • Thursday baseball..........

A rough 0-3 day yesterday which saw the 5 STAR winning streak come to an end at 9 straight winners. Time to get it rolling again today. A big card for me today, here they are........

5 STAR: Houston (-$130) OVER NEW YORK
    (Wade Miller vs. Pedro Astacio)

Third straight day that I am on Houston. Another good matchup today, but hopefully we will have better results. Wade Miller is 1-0 against the Mets in two starts, with an ERA of 2.51. Miller in his career is 16-1 when playing against a bad team with a winning percentage between 38% to 46%. Miller is also 15-3 versus National League teams with a team batting average of .255 or worse. This is Pedro Astacio's first start of the season after coming off of the DL. He usually never gets off to a good start, and he has not had good success against the Astros. Astacio is 3-5 with an ERA of 5.68 against Houston since 1997 and he is 3-11 at home when the total is 7.5 or less in that same time span. The Astros are also 79-38 as a road favorite of -125 to -150 since 1997.

5 STAR: St. Louis (-$111) OVER ATLANTA
    (Woody Williams vs. Mike Hampton)

I have to go against Mike Hampton until he proves me wrong. Hampton struggled in his first start with the Braves allowing 4 runs in 5 innings against the Phillies. Woody Williams has pitched well against Atlanta, posting a 2-1 record in three starts with an ERA of 1.99. Williams is 9-0 after giving up no earned runs in his last outing and 8-0 on the road when the total is 8 to 8.5 over the last 3 seasons. St Louis is 6-0 after scoring 3 runs or less 4 straight games over the last 3 seasons.

5 STAR: CHICAGO (-$230) OVER San Diego
    (Matt Clement vs. Oliver Perez)

The Cubs are 6-1 after a loss this season. Home favorites with a money line of -110 or higher that have a winning percentage of 54% to 62% and are revenging a loss versus an opponent as a home favorite when playing a team with a losing record are 261-110 since 1997. Matt Clement has an ERA of 2.45 against the Padres, Oliver Perez has an ERA of 7.20 against Chicago. A high price here, so I suggest using Chicago in a parlay with Oakland.

5 STAR: OAKLAND (-$350) OVER Detroit
    (Mark Mulder vs. Nate Cornejo)

The Oakland bat will wake up today after doing nothing in last night loss the the lowly Tigers. Oakland is 53-17 at home when the total is 8 to 8.5 over the last 3 seasons. Mark Mulder is 10-1 in home games after giving up 2 or more home runs last outing. High price here, so I suggest using Oakland in a parlay with Chicago.

3 STAR: CINCINNATI (+$130) OVER Los Angeles
    (Ryan Dempster vs. Kevin Brown)

2 STAR: Milwaukee (+$139) OVER FLORIDA
    (Todd Ritchie vs. Mark Redmon)

2 STAR: TEXAS (+$165) OVER Boston
    (Ryan Drese vs. Derek Lowe)

2 STAR: San Francisco (-$110) OVER PITT
    (Damien Moss vs. Kris Benson)

    Good luck,

I am on Houston and St.Louis again too. I think they were the right sides last night, just didn't get any big hits when they were needed.

I agree with going against Hampton all the time.

Oakland's offense has just not been good enought to lay those type of odds even in a parlay

I like SanFran a lot and Cincinnatti is starting to heat up.

              Good point,
On the Tony Bruno show they were comparing the # of wins the Tigers have vs # of wins Tiger Woods have. It was kind of funny

ESPN did a whole story comparing the Tigers numbers to the Yankees it was bad real bad and they are what 2-17.....can they win 2 straight against Zito and Mulder? I don't think they would be ranked in the College Baseball top 25 poll.:D :p :D :p

                Good luck !

I think oakland should win also. but not going to lay that lumber.
det isnt playing the yankees today. they are playing oakland who havent been playing up to potential recently.

I just can't see the Tigers winning two in a row here. The A's should have got the wakeup call last night!!!

                    Good luck guys,
