1* Twins +150
The word choke is used way too often in sports. Any time a team loses a lead, some moron calls it a "choke." Choking is when the loss occurs specifically because of pressure. I watched all of last night's White Sox loss to the Twins. This was a choke---Podsednik afraid to steal a base, guys leaving runners stranded, rookie reliever giving up three runs. Getting +150 against a team that has lost ten of 14 is a gift. If the Sox lose, their lead is likely to be a mere half-game after being up 15 in August!
1* Indians -1 1/2 (-155)
This violates one of my sacred rules. I never lay more than
-140. I certainly can't play Cleveland at the moneyline of
-260 but they have to be played in some fashion. Sabathia has been great the last month and Lima has been awful. Cleveland is now 41-13 the last 54 and playing with extreme confidence. I NEVER play the run line with home teams because you only get eight at-bats to the opponent's nine. Here, Cleveland gets nine different chances to score runs. Against Lima and the Royals, they may match the 11 they got last night.
Opinions only: Astros (a dog?!!), Nationals (Loaiza in good form; Mets on road), Marlins UNDER (Beckett/Smoltz)
