Wednesday's Game
Bowling Green is on road third game in row; they gave up 539 rushing yards in splitting first two games, but also passed for 868 yards, with totals of 98,71 in '05 tilts losing 56-42 at Wisconsin, then struggling to 40-31 win at lowly Ball State. Falcons a have great QB in Jacobs, but their leaky defense could be in trouble on blue carpet Bowling Green covered one of last five as a dog.

Boise State plays better at home than on road; they've covered seven of last ten home games. Broncos lost first two games, getting waxed 48-13 at Georgia, then losing 30-27 at Oregon State, after blowing 14-0 lead, in game marred by second quarter hailstorm. Boise has turned ball over eight times, and allowed five TD's of 20+ yds, so jacobs liable to hit big plays.

13) Some guy in New York set the Guinness World Record for most consecutive time watching TV, with 69 hours, 48 minutes. This record is attainable, I was shocked when I heard it was only that long. I've had my TV on for that many hours in a row, back when ESPN had NCAA tournament, but there were some catnaps in there, over four days, not three.

12) I am still baffled about how network TV analysts give their fantasy picks at 12:50 for the game they're covering, but no one mentions pointspreads. There is not that much of a difference between fantasy leagues and betting with a bookmaker.

11) DE Mathias Kiwanuka of Boston College is not only NFL prospect, he is grandson of the first prime minister of Uganda, who was assassinated by Idi Amin's people in 1971.

10) Louisville's offense was so dominant Saturday, they ran 52 offensive plays, only four of them came on third down.

9) Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney called it quits after four months of marriage, possibly because she found out that he never, ever takes that black hat off.

8) Texans and Ravens are very lucky their bye is this week; they've been two of the three worst (Vikings) teams in league so far. Well, maybe Chris Palmer wasn't so lucky, but the rest of them are.

7) Arizona Cardinals got into the red zone four times Sunday, and score three field goals, which is why they lost to Rams, 17-12. St Louis had two TD's and FG on their three trips inside Cardinal 20.

6) Tennessee's offense has already started 11 less drives 80+ yards from goal line than their opponents have. Ravens started 11 of their 14 drives in that black zone Sunday, and as inept as they were, long fields were the last thing they needed.

5) Red flag for defending champs; in two games, New England opponents have gotten into their red zone five times, and scored five TD's.

4) Not only did Ravens fail to get a first down in first half Sunday, so did Buffalo, and Tampa's first score came on a safety. Defense is still ahead of the offense, since "skill position" players are protected so much during training camp.

3) Ozzie Guillen needs to insert rookie McCarthy into his starting rotation, or else he is going to be skipper of the worst collapse in regular season baseball history.

2) Why is Congress wasting its time investigating Rafael Palmeiro, when there are people on the Gulf Coast waiting for their houses to be rebuilt? Isn't this a national emergency, and shouldn't every ounce of their brain power and influence be used to try and get these people's lives back to normal, as quickly as possible?

1) By the way, in predictable development, gas prices have dropped, but not nearly to level they were at before the hurricane. Funny how that works.
