Another winning day Tuesday, 3-2 (+6.0 units). Cashed in the big 5 STAR winner with the Astros!!! These are my plays for Wednesday...........
5 STAR: Houston (-$110) OVER NEW YORK
(Roy Oswalt vs. Al Leiter)
The Astros won for me last night, and I am right back on them tonight. There is HUGE value in this line. The Astros hammer left handed pitching to the tune of 6.2 runs per game (they average 4.7 runs per game overall). Al Leiter has not had very much success at all against Houston, Leiter is 1-5 with an ERA of 6.23 against the Astros since 1997. Leiter has also had a problem with control so far this season, walking 11 batters in his three starts. Houston is 21-6 in road games versus a starting pitcher with poor control, with more than 2.75 walks per start over the last 3 seasons. Roy Oswalt has dominated the Mets in two career starts. Oswalt is 2-0 with an ERA of 0.66 in those two starts, allowing 10 hits in 14 innings and striking out 10 batters. Oswalt is also 6-1 against NL East opponents in his career.
3 STAR: St. Louis (+$115) OVER ATLANTA
(Matt Morris vs. Greg Maddux)
I'm not convinced the Greg Maddux is back to his old self. I'll go with the Cards and Matt Morris who had a 1.93 ERA in his two starts against Atlanta last season. St. Louis is also 17-4 versus terrible fielding teams that are averaging 0.9 or more errors per game over the last 3 seasons. Maddux is only 3-4 against the Cardinals since 1997.
2 STAR: CHICAGO (-$220) OVER San Diego
(Kerry Wood vs. Adam Eaton)
The price is a bit high, but you have to go with the Cubbies and Kerry Wood in this spot. The Cubs are 10-2 in home games versus National League teams that are allowing 5.3 or more runs per game on the season over the last 3 seasons. Chicago is also 6-1 after 2 or more consecutive overs this season. National League home favorites with a money line of -200 to -250 that are scoring 5.0 or more runs per game against a team with a below average bullpen with an ERA of 4.50 or higher are 84-19 since 1997.
* ALL LISTED PITCHERS MUST START OR THE PLAY IS NO ACTION
Good luck,
John
