    Week 2 NFL action
    Monday night games

Saints (1-0) @ Giants (1-0)- Game moved from Bayou for obvious reasons; last time these two met was Joe Horn game two years ago, when Horn scored four TD's, pulled cellphone out of padding in goal post after one of them, and Saints won 45-7 over Giant squad that had quit on Fassel. America's Team won at Carolina last week, converting 8 of 13 on third down, with a plus-2 turnover ratio. Eli was just 10-23 passing last week, threw pick for score, but special teams scored twice, and D held Arizona to 31 yards rushing. Home side won six of last seven series games, with Saints losing last three at this site. Is fate still on their side?

Redskins (1-0) @ Cowboys (1-0)- Washington lost last nine visits to this site, scoring 14 or less in four of last five visits; they're 1-14 in last fifteen series games, losing both by FG last year. Six of last eight series totals were 37 or less. Both sides won last week, but in different fashion. Skins were only team to win without scoring TD, and they faced rookie QB at home. Dallas beat good Charger team on road, with last minute red zone stand (SD had 1st-and-goal at 7). Brunell gets nod at QB over banged-up, and now unhappy Ramsey. Bledsoe converted 7 of 11 on third down. Under is 13-4 in last 17 Texas Stadium openers, 4-1 in last five Redskin road openers.

      13) I had it hammered into my head by announcers in these games that no one likes to start 0-2. Otherwise, I would have no way of knowing this.

      12) The Ravens didn't have a first down in first half at Tennessee, then had five in first drive of second half.

      11) Bad omen for Washington tonight: the three other teams that have next week off got outscored 90-23 in their games Sunday.

      10) Green Bay is 41-11 under Mike Sherman when temperature is under 70 degrees, 12-18 when it isn't.

      9) This just in: the Vikings miss Randy Moss.

      8) Another newsflash: the next time a repeat felon gets sent back to prison, he should be strapped in a chair, locked in room, and made to listen to Sterling Sharpe talk on television. It may be extreme punishment, but it is for repeat offenders, after all.

      7) While we're criticizing announcers, it isn't difficult to know that Joe Buck likes baseball a lot more than the pigskin sport. Just that the money in football is better. A lot better.

      6) Sad set of 1:00 games Sunday. Only tight finish was Colts-Jaguars, and that was a 10-3 game that ended with officials ignoring an obvious interference call that would have given Jax ball on the 1-yard line.

      5) Buffalo had ball ten times Sunday; they kicked one field goal, and went 3-and-out seven times.

      4) Excellent passing numbers for Eagles: 33-39 for an amazing 443 yards.

      3) Packers' average starting field position? Their own 19, worst of any team Sunday. Tennessee had 22-yd edge in average starting position, though, with their 42 the average starting point for a Titan drive.

      2) Byron Leftwich can play for my team anytime.

      1) The NFC is like the Eastern Conference in NBA has been recently; other than Philadelphia, Panthers and Falcons, are there any good teams in the NFC? Jacksonville would be an NFC power, but probably is on outside looking in for AFC playoffs.
