  • Cubs Today

First time to happen this year..Since I have been tracking it, it's done very well. Teams that win the division the night before - Play against them the following day. The reason behind this is that they usually go out and party that night and just are not into it the following day.

    Today...Play the Cubs

I was wondering who was going to find that trend.

It's a good one. Add to it that Morris has gotten hit hard vs the Cubs this year and it's a solid pick.

    Good luck!

Technically (According to Larussa) they didn't clinch last night because the "magic number isn't zero" until they win again. Larussa said they wouldn't celebrate "until the magic number was zero". Don't know how much of that is true, but that is what he said last night, so they might be saving the celebration for tonight....a Friday in Chicago.

However, Rusch has pitched much better his last 2 starts, and like The Rook said, the Cubs do hit Morris.

I thought about the over/under 8 myself. I checked the weather, winds blowing straight in 15-20mph.

Cardinals didn't celebrate after they won last night

              From CBS sportsline:

But just like last season after they had clinched, La Russa wouldn't officially acknowledge the title until the Cardinals' magic number over second-place Houston is zero. So, the Cardinals were not doing any celebrating.

"You're watching the number and go `10-9-8' and get to one and you're going to celebrate? Zero is when you celebrate. That's what we're doing to do," La Russa said.

La Russa said the Cards won't pop the corks until they win another game and officially finish with more victories than the Astros. That might not come until Saturday, if both teams lose Friday, he said.
