    Milwaukee at New Jersey

Don't be fooled by the final score of Saturday's opener, won by New Jersey, 109-96. The Nets were up by 20 at the half, and expanded that advantage to 31 early in the fourth quarter before Milwaukee made a garbage-time run. And New Jersey owned the boards too, outrebounding the Bucks 48-28.

So much for Milwaukee closing the regular season by winning eight of its final nine games (7-2 ATS), while New Jersey was losing four of its final five (0-5 ATS).

The Nets are 34-8 SU and 25-17 ATS at home, but despite Saturday's blowout, they're still in the throes of a 13-24 ATS slide the past three months.

New Jersey had seven players score in double figures in game one, led by Kenyon Martin's 21-point, 15-rebound performance. And the Nets got an unexpected boost from center Jason Collins, who added 13 points and 12 boards.

The performances of Martin and Collins has prompted George Karl to consider making two changes in his lineup, benching Earvin Johnson at center for Anthony Mason, and returning Tim Thomas to the starting five after he scored 19 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter of the opener.

In terms of the total, there are conflicting trends to report. The Nets have played under in four of their last five, and they were 4-1 under in opening-round playoff action versus Indiana a year ago. But, six of the last seven meetings with Milwaukee at the Continental Airlines Arena have gone over the posted price.

Point to Ponder: Gary Payton was held scoreless in the opener until 5 1/2 minutes to play and finished with just eight points.

This service out of St. Louis has consistently placed among the top six postseason services monitored by the Sports Gambling Hotline in their first six years in business. They scored a 4* winner on New Jersey and a 3* on the over in game one of the Nets-Bucks' series. Tonight they've released their 4* First-Round Game of the Year play on the Milwaukee-New Jersey side, and a 3* play on the total. The parlay is yours for only $14 at www.SGHonline.com

    LA Lakers at Minnesota

Minnesota won the season's first two meetings by three in LA and 16 at home in December. But in a seven-day stretch in early March, the Lakers, back at full strength, returned the favor, scoring seven-point wins both home and away.

In Sunday's series' opener, LA shot 55% from the field and hit 10-of-19 three-pointers en route to a 117-98 win, improving to 16-2 SU on the playoff road over the past two-plus seasons.

Shaq scored 32 and grabbed 10 rebounds while Kobe contributed a team-high 39, giving him a scoring average of 33 points a game in the Lakers' last three meetings with the T'Wolves - all wins.

Despite Los Angeles' easy victory, Phil Jackson expressed his displeasure with his team's defensive effort since Minnesota shot 50% from the field while his Lakers forced only 11 turnovers.

LA enters tonight's game having won nine of its last 10 straight-up.

Minnesota is 33-9 SU and 23-16 ATS at home this season. With Sunday's loss, the T'Wolves fell to 11-3 the past three years as a home dog of three points or less, including 4-2 this season.

As you are aware, the T'Wolves have made six straight first-round playoff exits.

In terms of the total, the Lakers have topped the closing price in each of their last seven games. And five of the last seven meetings in Minnesota have gone over as well.

Scary Thought: Kobe scored 39 while holding Wally Szczerbiak, the T'Wolves' second-leading scorer, to just 15 points on nine shots in the opener.
