In the past, I have put up predictions from award shows with very good success (13-1 on the academy awards and similar in the golden globes)........Nowadays, most sites offer odds on these things but you have to bet them now before the odds change........The event is Sunday night.........the emmys are tougher than the movie awards but some categories are not, i digress::
Best Comedy Series---->Desperate Housewives is a mortal lock, no way any other show can win.......i have seen odds ranging from -300 to -500.........i know a lot of you are hesitant to put up $300 to $500 to get $100 but when you consider that the cardinals were -334 to beat the pirates tonight and they escaped with a 5-4 win, this is much more of a lock and the odds should be -500000, it cannot lose
Best Drama Series---->Lost is probably going to win although this is far from a lock.........odds here range from even to -200.......it is a good bet even at -200, not a great bet, but it should win........i have seen the west wing at odds of up to 20/1 which if you are into major long shots, it does have a slim slim chance to upset
Best Drama Actor---->tough category with the clear favorite being hugh laurie from the show house.......odds here range from +220 all the way up to +400.........clearly worth a bet at these odds as he will probably win but spader or mcshane can win too so this is far from a lock
Best Comedy Actor---->good luck, any of 4 can win with the favorite being tony shalhoub......his odds are in the +300 to +400 range and might be worth a very small play ........ i can see jason bateman winning here too
Best Drama Actress---->one-on-one, glenn close is probably going to win and you can get her at a little better than even odds.........only other person with a shot is hargitay and this would be 50-50 if it were not glenn close she were up against but the voters love close, so she is probably worth a small bet.....nobody else has a chance here
Best Comedy Actress---->once again, one-on-one, teri hatcher vs. marcia cross........all the people in the know say hatcher is gonna win and you can get her at about -130ish........cross has a shot at the upset, but probably not.......nobody else has a chance in this category
Best Reality Show--------->these odds are so confusing, it is hard to understand, the amazing race is a lock, it cannot lose but somehow the odds are still under -200????? it has won 2 years in a row, it gets better every season and these atrocious excuses for shows that it is up against have no shot, the only exception being a miracle type upset by american idol but at less than -200, this is a must bet........to equate this to sports, it would be like getting usc -7 at home vs. penn state........
those are the main categories and the only other thing you can find odds on are best variety/music/comedy series in which the daily show is a lock too and worth betting no matter what the odds
