I looked at this game and thought why oh why are the Raiders being spotlighted on opening night. Why? Randy Moss with the bad boys. I know why New England is playing......Superbowl champs.
Wouldn't Dallas /San Diego be a better match for a Thursday Night game?
The Raiders a team who struggled last year with its defense which seen them give up a ton of points has given some of their players the freedom to play their game. Sapp last year struggled with this defense not playing his game and has been turned loose to play his game,thus getting a few more sacks in preseason then he did all last year. They have also acquired Ted Washington,and Bobby Hamilton to help plug the middle of that defense.
New England on the other hand have lost some key key players and coaches. Teddy Bruschi, Ted Johnson, Roman Phifer, Ty Law are all gone. But they have been replace by capable vets in Chad Brown,Monty Biesel. Asanta Samuel will match up with Randy Moss and hold him in check.
The key to this game is getting Lamond Jordan to control the ground game and Kerry Collins hitting his pass catchers in Moss and Jerry Porter who returns tonight after sitting out a few preseason games.
With this all said....am going to take the Oakland Raiders and the points and see this game going under the number.
I know the numbers isn't in my favor but something tells me the raiders come out showing the nation last year was last year.
