As i looked at this game my first thought was Okie St. hands down. With 16 returning starters( in one book am looking at and another has 14 starters back with the QB returning ). Florida Atlantic with a total of 7 returning starters.
Okie St. 7 - 5 last year coming off a Alamo Bowl loss to Ohio St. 33-7.
FAU had a 9 - 3 season last year and no bowl invite. They played their first 5 road games last year on the road and won all 5 games.
Beating these teams-
Hawaii 35 - 28 in OT
N.Texas 20 -13
Middle Tenn St. 27 -20
Texas St. 20 -13
N. Colorado 39 -24
Pretty impressive considering all were on the road. But that was done with a group of 26 seniors who had a aggregate 600 starts in division one games. This group is now gone. Altho they return 38 lettermen this year only 7 returners start this year.
Am questioning myself just how good a team Okla. St. is after struggling with Montana St. 15-10. While FAU gave Kansas on the road all they could handle as 24 dogs losing 30-19.
Mike Gundy new head coach taking over for Les Miles has implemented a new offense which the cowboys has been struggling with thru out spring and it showed in the first game. I don't think this offense will click until midseason and don't see the cowboys scoring much points no less covering the 2 TD's on the road. Win maybe by 14 don't think so.
Am going to take Howard Schellenbergers bunch of under achieving guys to fight hard to the end and give this cowboy team all they can handle.
This is the first time the Owls are underdogs at home so lets see how they handle this role.
