What is the big deal about Big Al?
This guy over any extended period of time is mediocre at best.
If You think I am wrong, someone please show me some documentation that his record is any good.

I have seen people ask for his plays on other threads also.
From what I have heard and seen, I would be much more curious as to what plays were from much better handicappers than him--Rob Crowne, Billy Coleman, Stan Lisowski, Great Lake Sports, etc.
I was simply wondering why Big Al's plays are so coveted.

savage i got the following off of his site....

Big Al’s Sportsline was founded in 1992 by myself, Al McMordie. I have handicapped sporting events since the late 1970s and, after much success as a private handicapper, I was urged to go public by David Flynn, a well-known handicapper in Dallas. From the start, Big Al’s Sportsline has been one of the premier documented sports services in the country. Through 2002, Big Al’s Sportsline has won 123 Top 5 and 30 #1 titles in football, basketball, and baseball with Sports Watch of Las Vegas and The Sports Monitor (Okla.), whose web site is www.SportsServices.net ; And Big Al's Sportsline has been the best basketball service in the country the past 10 seasons. In 2002, we were #4 in basketball. In 1997, we ranked #2 in NBA, #10 in college, and #2 in nba/college combined. In 1996, Big Al's Sportsline was documented #1 NBA regular season, #4 NBA playoffs, and had the best winning percentage in the regular season and playoffs combined. Big Al's Sportsline was also documented #2 college basketball regular season, #4 tournaments, and the best winning percentage in the regular season and tournaments combined. And Big Al's Sportsline's record of 167-121 was the best win percentage of any documented service in the country in college and pro basketball. This continued Big Al's Sportsline's domination in basketball. In 1994, Big Al's Sportsline earned two #1 and four Top 5 rankings with Sports Watch; and in 1995, again nobody had a better record than Big Al's Sportsline as I was 141-94 (60%).

I have handicapped football the longest of any of the three major sports. Over 20 years, I have only had three losing seasons. I have also earned several #1 and Top 5 titles in football. In 2000, we finished #9, and had an overall record of 157-114 on our Late Telephone service and 900# selections. 1998, we finished #1 in the College Bowls, and have had a 65-31 record the past 8 years in the bowls, easily the best in the nation. We also finished #1 in '98 Preseason football with an 8-1 mark. In the '97 season, we were #1 in NFL/College football, #2 College reg. season, and #1 College Regular Season/Bowls combined. Big Al's Sportsline finished the 1996 preseason at 12-5 (71%), and was ranked in the Top 5 by both Sports Watch and www.SportsServices.net ....In the regular season we finished #3 with a 40-24 record on nfl side selections (63%).

I consider baseball to be the most difficult sport to beat. Still, I was ranked #1 in baseball in 2001. Starting in 2001, I decided to limit the amount of selections. I used 2 systems, one of which wins at about a 70% rate; the other at a 56% rate. We were up 103.05 stars last year. 1996 was the first year that my selections have been monitored in baseball, and Big Al's Sportsline finished the first half of the season #3 (Sports Watch); the second half #1 ( www.SportsServices.net ) and FINISHED #1 OVERALL (Sports Watch)!! We won again in 1997 and finished #5 in baseball.
