Eighth ranked Virginia Tech defends their ACC Title tonight at Raleigh, North Carolina vs the NC State Wolfpack. They will have 2 things on their mind tonight, (1) defending their ACC Title and (2) revenge from last year's 17-16 loss to the Wolfpack. After last year's loss vs State, the Hokies went on to win 8 straight games.
Marcus Vick and company should be plenty motivated tonight to take it to NC State. After last year's suspension, Vick was reinstated and has been given the starting QB role. Vick has last year's entire receiving corps back, highlighted by 2nd team All-ACC tight end Jeff King. Sophomore split end speedsters Josh Hyman and Eddie Royal are capable of making huge plays downfield. Virginia Tech's ground game should be the strongest it's seen in years with tailbacks Mike Imoh and Cedric Humes returning, the pair combined for over 1300 yards and 11 TD's last year. Three offensive linemen return, lead by All-ACC Honorable Mention guard Will Montgomery.
Virginia Tech also returns 6 players on defense. They will be led by DE Darryl Tapp, a 6-1, 270 LB First Team All-ACC player. The Hokies also return their top tackler from 2004, All-American Candidate Linebacker Vince Hall and another All-American candidate in cornerback Jimmy Williams who made 60 tackles and 5 interceptions last year.
The bottom line to this game is, this Hokies team is loaded with talent and with the Wolfpack losing their entire secondary from last year's team, I see at least a 7pt Virginia Tech victory tonight.
