Nascar Matchups YTD 16-13 +.45 units

                  For tonight at California.........

2* Joe Nemechek -130 over Jeremy Mayfield
Joe starts 22nd here to Mayfield's 13th, but unlike Bristol last week, starting position is not that big of a deal with a 500 mile race and a wide open California Speedway. Nemechek had a fast car in practice running 6th and 4th fastest compared to 19th and 40th for Mayfield. Mayfield has won here in 2000 but neither has had too much success here. Nemechek was running strong here in the spring only to have his engine go. His team runs Hendrick engines in their cars and I look for the Hendrick boys to run really strong tonight!

1* Jimmie Johnson -105 over Greg Biffle
Jimmie Johnson has finished ahead of Biffle every race they have both been on the track save the previous race here this year where J.J. finished 2nd to Biffle who took the checkers. He is starting 5th to Biffle's 4th tonight but I look for Jimmie to have a strong run tonight as his crew seems to be one of the best at getting the car right as the night goes along. He has also been to victory lane here in 2002 and has a couple runner up finishes as well. Biffle has not had much success here as his only top 10 run was his victory here in the spring.

1* Kevin Harvick -165 over Dale Jarrett
Dale Jarrett has not been happy at all with his car this weekend to say the least. He has been consistently slow qualifying 37th and running 39th and 38th slowest in practice. Harvick on the other hand has not been one of the fastest but a little better than Jarrett qualifying 18th and running 31st and 26th in practice. Jarrett pretty much dumped his chase hopes last week when he dumped Ryan Newman and I look for his bad luck to continue tonight.

1* Jeff Gordon -115 over Matt Kenseth
What can you say about Jeff this weekend other than he has been extremely fast. Jeff paced both practice sessions as the fastest car and qualified a good lap to come off 6th. Kenseth qualified 23rd and was 5th and 14th fastest in the practices. Jeff knows he has to fend off Matt Kenseth if he hopes to make the chase, so I see him doing everything he can to stay in front of Kenseth tonight.

1* Casey Mears -115 over Bobby Labonte
This isn't so much of a play on Casey Mears as it is a play agains Bobby Labonte. Like Jarrett, Labonte has been horrible all weekend long. He qualified 42nd and in the two practices was 32nd and 44th fastest compared to a steady 21st in both sessions for Casey Mears. Mears also gets the qualifing nod at 33rd to 42nd for Labonte. (Which I said earlier at this track doesn't mean much.)

                  Good luck everybody!

What the fuck happened to Louisville??

GL KB, had to work another long shift in the ER, people keep pouring in from MS and Lousiana, wish I had time to cap some of these matchups in nascar! hope that you didn't put any money on my lackluster qualifying matchups. Dale Jr q'd 41st, Sooners lose. What can you do? Sometimes the gods speak loudly, and sometimes they whisper.
