Growing up in NY and moving to Florida last summer I got my first taste of hurricanes. The hurricanes we had here in Florida last year paled in comparison to the monster Katrina was. I couldn't even begin to image the horror.

To blame the president is ignorant. There's a chain of command. I place the majority of the blame on Louisiana governor, Blanco. She offered no leadership at all. After the hurricane hit every interview I saw with her she looked bewildered and lost. In one interview she made no sense at all. After 911 NY had a powerful man take charge with Gulliani. He not only took charge of NY but of the entire country. Blanco did BLANK.

Tigger in no way was this a response towards you. It's just my opinion on the situation.

God bless to you and stay safe.

Did you have to dig that up, Tigger???

Thank God you're allright, buddy... i'm sure watching the devastation on tv doesn't compare to what you saw in person.... can't imagine going through what you did, you gained alot of respect, deservedly so, for the way you stood up to a tragic situation..... and PLEASE if you communicate with Jimmy (LSU Fan) let him know that we're praying for him, we miss him terribly here, and we can't wait for him to come back...

Frank - I see what you are saying... and I agree in some aspects. You are definitely entitled to your opinion.

I don't want to open this up to the board as an open discussion, but I do want to let everyone know the situation that is going on down in New Orleans day in and day out.... I am there and deal with the problems, listen to the problems from the people, the issues and some of the stresses. The only thing we have is radio down there and the media coverage is limited (no national media = CNN or MSNBC or anything like that). I've heard that they meaning the national media has said that there is no leadership down there and that's the problem..... BULLSHIT!

We have the mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, this man has done miracles and put his life on the line from Day 1 when he took office in New Olreans! He's discovered and taken all the backass, "under the table payoff" deals that were going on in New Olreans for decades with all the corrupt politics and thrown them away. His life has been threatened by the mafia and the mob and many different gangs numerous times, but his stances has never swayed.... "I am here to do a job and this is my job"

I wish everyone could hear the speech given by him Thursday night..... 4 days of no water, no food, no sleep, no HELP except what LA, MS, AL, TX, AR, and some small countries that we never would normally hear from. WHERE THE FUCK WAS THE UNITED STATES??? WHERE THE FUCK WAS FEMA??? WHERE THE FUCK WAS THE RED CROSS??? I was there, they were not! Nagin got on LIVE RADIO and said, "I may get in trouble for some of this, but......" and then went on a 15 minutes rant on how the feds fucked this up and he's right! He is 100% right!

Cleco, Entergy, TX Entergy, AR Electric, all the power trucks were lined up on the side of the interstate just waiting to hit the road to move in and start working. Where the hell was the FEMA trucks? Why wasn't our gov't prepared? No matter where this storm hit, someone was going to need these supplies, why weren't these trucks loaded in TN or SC and ready to roll Monday afternoon? They would of arrived Tuesday at the latest!!! THE FEDS DIDN'T SHOW UP UNTIL FRIDAY NIGHT!!! They interviewed rescue workers down in New Orleans that were screaming for help. "We have no food, we have no water, and we're having to work 16-18 hour days.... people that we save are dying in the streets because they have no food here for them! We need back up!"

Personally... in my city, the mayor Ben Morris is pissed off as well because FEMA showed up Friday afternoon and left without dropping a damn thing because they said, "The drop site wasn't cleared and okayed by the Headquarters yet". The people were there waiting, hundreds and hundreds of people waiting for anything, many that had not eaten in about two days.... NOTHING!

I know that a lot of the media is covering the gangs of N.O. and all the shit they have started each and every day... shooting policemen, firing at rescue workers... and to this I say... I'm just glad the military is there now and I hope they kill every last one of those mother fuckers! They are the ones that destroyed N.O. to begin with and the reason that 30% or more of N.O. is nothing but projects and a big welfare hole. They are good for nothing, but starting trouble and they will get what is coming via military-style!

Becareful what you do listen to on the radio... some of those stories are complete BULLSHIT! They reported one day that they were shooting at rescue helicopters... turns out it NEVER HAPPENED! There are a few other stories that came out to be false upon further investigations. Like anywhere else 98% of everyone is being cooperative and assisting where possible, but the 2% that is making all the trouble is what gets reported on the news.

Down we get to listen to the Congress discuss whether it's a good idea to even rebuild N.O. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? I can't believe they're even discussing this!

                          - It's the 2nd biggest port in the world
                          - It's one of the biggest strategic points to hold in a time of war (the mouth of the Mississippi River) for militarial and economic purposes.
                          - N.O. produces over 25% of all the oil that the U.S. consumes
                          - It's one of the most diverse cultures in the world
                          - It's one of the oldest cities in the U.S.
                          - It's home to over 2 million people in and of the surrounding areas
DO WE NOT REBUILD Los Angeles and San Fransico EVERYTIME A DAMN EARTHQUAKE KNOCKS THEM OVER? WHAT DO THEY OFFER THE UNITED STATES?

It's ashame that only the 2% are being reported as well because our efforts down there are actually making a HUGE difference and being recognized by high ranking people as well. David Vitter, the senator of LA, was talking in his speech today (Saturday) about how the people of Slidell said "Screw FEMA" and cleared the streets themselves. And this is true because this is the squad I ran with..... we figured we could either bust our asses and get it done, or we can wait a month for FEMA to roll their lazy, political driven asses in to where we live and take there time clearing the streets.....WE SAID FUCK'EM AND DID IT OURSELVES! And it felt damn good too.

So now, I sit in New Iberia... planning to get one nights sleep in the A/C before I head back to the warzone again with new supplies for the troops of Slidell. I sit here... cut, scratched up, scarred, bruised, tired as hell... done shed a lot of blood, sweat, and tears over what's happened, but what's done is done... and the people of Southeast LA will be that much stronger for it. I know I will.... never take for granted what you have.... ONE DAY, you may not have it anymore.

Glad to see you back at least for a bit TIgger. I'm sorry I missed you last night while you were on.

I agree with you on the New Orleans mayor...he was the only one that has been right there with the people. His interview on the radio the other day was classic and I had so much respect for him after that.

Get all your stuff together bumble-bee and get Dallas cause we miss ya.

ahhhhh bumble bee....I"m so glad ASB reminded me of your new name.

                            LOL

Don't blame you or anyone in any of those States for being pissed off. They need to be doing more and need to be doing it days ago. Instead of allowing FEMA and the Red Cross to take care of it.

In 1998 Louisiana tried to get a $14 billion grant from the Government to fix the levies (spelling?) and fix the errosion problems, but were denied. And its still going to have too be fixed for sure now. Instead thousands of people are without homes, died, etc. in order to wake up the Government. And were spending $7 billion a month in Iraq.
