  • Saturday Baseball and NCAA Football - 9/3

We cashed in the Brewers in baseball and Arizona in college football for a 2-0 sweep yesterday!! These are my plays for Saturday.....

    NCAA Football

5 STAR: Usc (-32.5) OVER HAWAII
    (Line from BetJamacia on 8/24)

Get on this early, the line will only keep climbing. USC should put a hurting on the Warriors in this one. The high powered offense of Hawaii the was #2 in the nation in passing last season, is now without quarterback Timmy Chang, their top six wide receivers and their top two running backs. All of their skill positions are new starters, and they get the National Champs in their first game. Hawaii has never had a good defense and they will not be able to stop USC in this match up. The Trojans have scored 61 and 62 points in the last two meetings with the Warriors. Lay the wood here!

3 STAR: Bowling Green (+2.5) OVER WISCONSIN

Wisconsin, a Big Ten power, laying less than a field goal at home against a MAC school? Looks way too easy, doesn't it? Bowling Green is for real. Their quarterback Omar Jacobs might be the best NFL prospect, bar none. The Falcons have a lot of returning talent on the offense, and this is an offense that was second in the nation in total offense and fourth in the nation in scoring offense. The Badgers are in a rebuilding mode this season. Their defense is very young and unless they can put some pressure on Jacobs he will pick their secondary apart. On the other side of the ball, the Bowling Green defense is not the most stellar group, but Wisconsin does not have very many weapons on offense. The Badgers will look to use a power running game and if they fall behind and have to play catch up, they could be in trouble here. Bowling Green will not be intimidated playing on the road here either, they opened their season last year at Oklahoma and made things interesting for a while. I look for the upset here!

3 STAR: AIR FORCE (+3) OVER Washington

I think the wrong team is favored in this game. This is major rebuilding time for Tyrone Willingham and the Washington Huskies program. They do return 18 starters from last years team, but they were horrible posting a 1-10 record and going 2-8-1 against the spread. The Huskies rushing defense was terrible. They were 84th in the nation in rushing defense, allowing almost 184 yards per game. That is not a good stat when you are going to face Air Force. The Falcons were fourth in the nation in rushing last season, racking up over 3000 yards on the ground. Even though they are coming off of a down season that saw Air Force post a 5-6 record, they have the pieces in place to return to winning form again. The emergence of quarterback Shaun Carney and one of the best offensive lines that Air Force has ever had, should have the Falcons rolling to a bowl game once again this season. I'll take the points here!

    2005/2006 NCAA FOOTBALL RECORD

    5 STAR RECORD 0-0 (+0.00 UNITS)
    3 STAR RECORD 0-0 (+0.00 UNITS)
    2 STAR RECORD 1-0 (+2.00 UNITS))
    1 STAR RECORD 1-0 (+1.00 UNITS)

    OVERALL RECORD 2-0 (+3.00 UNITS)
    A $100 player would up $300

    MLB

5 STAR: St. Louis (-$110) OVER HOUSTON
(Listing Carpenter and Clemens)($550 to win $500)

Chris Carpenter is 3-0 against the Astros this season and has allowed only one earned run in 24 innings in those three games. I have not seen anything out of Houston lately to suggest that things should change in this game. There is a lot more potential for the Cards to do damage to Clemens than there is for the Astros to due damage to Carpenter. Carpenter should lockup the Cy Young for sure after this one.

    Yesterday's Results: 1-0 (+5.00 units)

    2005 MLB RECORD

    10 STAR RECORD 1-2 (-13.13 UNITS)
    5 STAR RECORD 51-43-1 (+48.77 UNITS)
    3 STAR RECORD 68-74 (+18.21 UNITS)
    2 STAR RECORD 82-98-3 (-15.75 UNITS)
    1 STAR RECORD 46-70 (-11.29 UNITS)

    OVERALL RECORD 248-287-4 (+26.81 UNITS)
    A $100 player would up $2681

    Good luck,
    John
