  • ****USC / Hawaii****

Just got through reading this local paper, "Downtown Planet" in it they interveiwed Coach Jones. Here's a few clips.
You're just days away from the season opener against USC. Right now, how is the team where you expect them to be?
We're still young, and we're inexperienced. We're going to have to have our best game ever to compete with USC. USC is like an NFL team. We probably don't have anybody on our team who could start for them.

***if thats not bad enough, here's one more***

It's going to be strange not seeing Timmy Chang leading the offense. How do [starting quarterback candidates]Tyler Graunke and Colt Brennan compare to Timmy?
There different in that Timmy knew everything we were doing. These kids are just learning. Colt has been here for only weeks. His command and knowledge of the offense is not where it needs to be, but he'll get there. They're coming along. I think each of them has done some good things in camp. They can definitely throw the ball. But it'll probably take 4-5 games before they really have a command of what we're doing.

    *****OK that's enough******

You wanna know what really sucks? I posted this game earlier as a five star for me, but I'm throwing 5*s four times. When I just tried turning in my bet early (about 30 miniutes ago) my one house that had 35, said no only a dime. So I called my other house, who has 35.5 and he told me nickle limit on this game.AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! So I called my co-worker to turn in some action to the first house in his name, he called me back and said the game is off the board.AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH COMON!!!!!! ....it's Friday afternoon for petes sake!

If yo guys can get it at 34.5 like I see on the internet, get it!
And good luck gang whatever you do with this information!!!!!! :uzi:

That might be one of the funniest things I've ever heard a coach say about his team!!!

More often than not, big favorites are up by 4 or 5 touchdowns at the half. Then they seem to take it easy in the second half, usually by playing second and third stringers as early as mid 3rd quarter. I could see USC up by something like 45-6 and Hawaii gets a cheap TD late 4th quarter.

SO, WHAT TO DO. I just played USC -20 for the first half. If they are going to cover a 35 point spread for the full game, they should be up by more than 20 at the half.

Sandman, I know you like your dogs, but the way I'm seeing this game, maybe one offensive score and maaaaaybe one special teams score by us. USC should be up by the score of 45-3 or 52-3 at the half and if Coach Pete decides not to pad Matt's stats then I'm sure White and Bush will pad theirs. With so much uncertainties on both sides of the ball, I just don't see Hawaii stoping the Trojans. Sorry to hear you got 20 at the half, I just found a house giving me -18.
Goodluck tomorrow whatever you do, and hope you cash your tickets!!!!

Still haven't decided if I will play this or not..... it's my hometown team, always been hard to put money against 'em.

One thing I think that UH has in their corner that most are not aware of is Elvis himself..... Jerry Glanville. He might be a flake, but the guy knows how to coach football and he is coaching the defense and special teams. On the local news tonight, even Pete Carroll admitted that he knows what the UH offense will do, but he really doesn't know what to expect from Glanville and the D.

And yes, Hawaii is very young and inexperienced, but they're probably as athletic as they've ever been, so this one could be closer than most think. I'm not calling an upset by any means, but don't be surprised if Hawaii stays within the points. The local kids have a lot of pride and they don't want to be embarassed at home on national TV..... they're gonna fight tooth and nail.

I also think that Norm Chow's departure from the program shouldn't be downplayed as much as it has been. His system may still be in place, but someone else is calling the plays and designing the offensive gameplan.

My .02, do with it what you will.

            Thanks for the input Lanai!
You don't know how many times I got "batchie" for betting against us. And if I lose this one, it'll be nice to know our team has a chance this year! Let's hope some of that Ewa Beach pride rubs off!!!!!!!No matter what the outcome, win or lose, you know I'm going to booze!!!!!!....just that the berr would taste alot better with a win!!
            Goodluck tomorrow buddy!!!
