I am sort of a rookie when it comes to betting football games. I am asking for any vets advice on when to buy down and up points. For example, do I buy -6 down to -5.5? Thank you in advance to anyone who responds.

Lawman, I've done lots of research on buying points for NFL football games. I posted my results in a thread last season. I'll try to find the thread and bump it.
A few I remember
Buy -3 favorite to -2.5
Buy -3.5 favorite to -3
Buy 2.5 dogs to 3. -
Never buy -6 down to -5.5Comment

If the line is 7 buy down to 6.5...and 3.5 or 3, buy down to 2.5....That's the only time I buy down.
Football games usually win by TD and FG...otherwise it isn't worth it unless odds aren't high.
Meaning If Duke tomorrow was 3 at -110 and 2.5 at -120, then take it down.
But if 2.5 was -150, it's up to the bettor...
