    9/1

    Central Florida @ South Carolina UNDER 49 (-103) 2**

Steve Spurrier returns to college football tonight, as he attempts to implement his Fun 'n Gun offense at another SEC school. The Gamecocks offense does not yet have anywhere near the talent level of Spurrier's old Florida teams, but they do have a solid defense, lead by sophomore safety Ko Simpson. Central Florida is a terrible team that will be lucky to score more than 10 points tonight, and I feel with the Gamecocks still learning the new offensive scheme, Under 49 is a strong play.

    Connecticut -17.5 (-103) vs. Buffalo 1*

Connecticut has owned Buffalo the last 3 years, winning by scores of 29-0, 38-7 (at Buffalo), and 24-3 (at Buffalo). That adds up to a 3 year combined score of 91-10! Dan Orlovsky may be gone for the Huskies, but they return a deep and talented backfield, and they still have far more talent than the Bulls. Buffalo is just 3-9 ATS in their L12 road games, and they appear to be in for yet another long season in 2005, starting tonight.

    Washington St. -28 (-110) vs. Idaho 1*

These two teams have met each of the last 4 seasons, with all 4 games being played in Washington. The Cougars have won all 4 of those games SU, and are 3-1 ATS (with the one non-cover coming in 2003 when the game was played in Seattle. For the record, the combined score of those 4 games was 159-29, so the Cougars should have no problem covering 28 tonight. Idaho was 2-7 ATS on the road in 2004, and the Vandals offense will struggle to crack double figures against a stout Cougars defense, lead by star senior MLB Will Derting.

    Utah -7 (-116) vs. Arizona 3***

Urban Meyer is gone. Alex Smith is gone. Paris Warren is gone. And yet the beat will go on for the Utes in 2005. Utah has to be considered the heavy favorites to repeat as Mountain West champions this season, as Meyer left the cupboard far from empty for successor Kyle Whittingham. The Utes went 20-4 ATS the last 2 seasons under Meyer, and are 17-2 ATS in out of conference action since 2001, including covering 11 straight non-Mountain West games. One must go back to October 25, 2003 to find a home game the Utes didn't win by at least two touchdowns! Mike Stoops has done a good job recruiting at Arizona, but his team is still a year or two away from competing against clubs like Utah. The Wildcats are just 4-10 ATS on the road since 2002.

I'll have a lot more plays Saturday, as well as some on Sunday and Monday.

Good luck to everyone this weekend! Football is FINALLY here!
