  • The Wonderful Thing About Tigger Is....

    I'm still alive!!!

    The damage....

My family and I are okay. We have water and food and each other and that's about all that matters at this point. No power, no phones, no running water... NOTHING! Some of you may not understand this, so let me say this..... washing clothes...NO! Showers... NO! Flush the toilet....NO! A/C... are you f***in' kidding me? Hell NO! None of this matters though, we're together and alive. I have a very close and very strong family! All of our houses were okay... mine, my brother'ss, my sister's, my aunt R.'s my uncle G's...my grandmother and grandfather's took a little damage, but we've already begun repairing it, we're very handy people. WE WERE TRULY VERY BLESSED!

I am in New Iberia now, it's about 110 miles west of New Orleans..... the devastation is unbelievable. We go day to day.. living in the greatest, most powerful nation on earth and never think of what would happen given something like this would come about. I can not express the scenes I've seen and helped solve in the past 30 hours. The death count is going to be unbelievable. There are 40+ nursing homes and such in N.O. and they were only able to clear 10 of them before the storm hit! That's not counting the approximate 100,000 people that could NOT leave due to no transportation!

The wierd thing about being IN a catastrophic event such as this is you know how bad it is, but you don't.... I have yet to see television, or pictures of the damage. I know what I"ve seen and it's the worst thing I've ever witnessed personally.... more to come.

That's great to hear you're doing well!!! Living in Florida for 5 years I know what it's like to be in a hurricane (however none as bad as bad as Katrina) and it leaves you with such a helpless feeling. If there's anything I can do to help you guys out, feel free to get my E-mail address and shoot me a message. I'd love to help.

This is Great news.....I stayed up almost all night watching CNN. This is a very sad moment in our history. Me and my family have aready started collecting $$ to send to those people in need. I think if we all that are more fortunate, collect $$ in your areas and send it to the victims, we can make a difference as a force.
                    Very Sad...........

Tigger- It doesn't come as a surprise that you have been helping others so much during this tragic scene in your life- you have helped so many here on the site. I have a helpless feeling of wanting to help as many of us do on the site- so communicate that to us as well - of what your needs are. As several have mentioned- being in past catastrophic events or hurricanes of lesser intensity - we have a great remembrance of the suffering and the all-night vigils to keep property from escaping or providing safety to our loved ones and neighbors. Great to know that you and your extended family is safe. Our hearts go out to ya as we try to absorb the devastation that took place. Try not to internalize the damages done- ( let it out - even if you have to yell or cry ) if at all possible- and continue doing what you do best. Our hearts and support is with ya.---Spearit
