Bengals @ Eagles-- Philly averaging 25 ppg in its last five summer games; they get Owens back for this one, so you know he'll score TD early, just so he can be the lead on Sports Center. Cincy lost their third preseason game the last three years in a row, all by 8+ points, allowing 30.3 ppg. Cincy played both Super Bowl teams this summer.

Chargers @ Vikings-- San Diego was geeked up for its first home sellout of preseason game in nine years Sunday five days later, on the carpet of 10,000 lakes, you won't get same effort. Minnesota won and covered its last three summer home games, and Brad Johnson provides backup insurance; he is only backup in NFL to win Super Bowl.

Bills @ Bears-- Chicago still lacking #1 pick Benson, the only unsigned #1 pick; with Grossman done for year, the QB competition continues between Hutchinson and Orton the Purdue rookie I think will win job. Bills outscored its foes 44-17 so far this summer. I still think Holcomb is the man, not Losman; will be interesting to see in Chicago can get defensive score vs shaky Buffalo signal-caller.

Steelers @ Redskins-- Washington outscored 52-27 in losing first two games; Steelers outscored foes 55-34 in winning their first two games. None of that means a hill of beans. First road game of summer for Steelers, who are 4-1 vs spread in last five meaningless games. 27 points in two games ranks Washington 28th in league in scoring.

Patriots @ Packers-- Last eight Packer summer games stayed under, including last five at Lambeau- Pack scored 10 or less points in five of last six summer tilts. Patriots trying to decide on Brady's backups, with Davey, Cassel vying for roster spot- I am assuming Flutie is on roster, especially as Pats need wise head in offensive meetings

Ravens @ Saints-- Baltimore needs to crank up offense, having scored just 17 points in apir of summer losses. The Saints tried like hell to win at Foxboro last week, as their starters played until close to end of third quarter. Haslett just 2-5 in last seven summer home games. Would expect him to give Bouman, McPherson more time under center.

Jets @ Giants-- No Eli here, as bogus Big Blue backups get 60 minutes vs Jet defense that will be fired up to stop them, after fracas-filled scrimmage in Albany few weeks back. Gang Green covered four of last five in summer.

Panthers @ Browns-- Cleveland 2-0 in summer, as new coach Crennel, a Parcells disciple, apparently trying to get W's in meaningless games. Panthers had their ten-game summer win streak snapped by Giants last week.

Cardinals @ Raiders-- Any time you can get Cardinals in August with points, take 'em, as Green tries to win these contests. Raiders 0-2 this summer, so they have urgency at least a little, but even if they win by FG, you cover.

Titans @ 49ers-- Rattay rigthful starter on Candlestick Point, but Smith will still get lot of work in second half of game vs a Tennessee team that has covered 11 of its last 13 exhibition games.
