  • LLWS - Thoughts...

Due to yesterday's dominant 4 inning showing by Newtown, I'm a little hesitant to pick todays available lines. As psychology is apparently a big factor in these games, we must return to the juvenile mindset and ask ourselves, who's going to step up, and who is just glad to be there?

The lines right now for the (Tue. game)
3 pm Owensborough KY -140 vs. Westbrook Maine +130

    7:30 p.m. Vista (Cal) RL -5 (-122) ML -1600 vs.
    Lafayette (Lou) RL +5 (+112) ML +1200

    My picks:
Louisana RL for 1 unit and ML for 1/2 units, for possible +7Units

For the early game, I'm leaning toward westbrook Maine as a good dog play, but I'm hesitant as they've only score 5 in their last two showings, and KY has produced 10, but both of them have lost their two games and they appear pretty evenly matched. I'm not going to take anything though until I hear compelling thoughts from you guys. Though I haven't seen maine play on TV, they are playing Wildcat-country boys and statewide shame awaits them if they don't win this. Thoughts? Maine had a better showing against powerhouse California than KY (who lost by lost by 5)
I kinda like the Lafayette ML as a good value (1/2 unit to win 6 units), Cali is good, but not -1600 good. Lou only beat both KY and Maine by 1 in both games, and so I'll take the RL +5 for 1 unit.

Have a great day, and good luck to you all.
    Record to date:
    Nascar (1-0 for +1 unit)
    LLWS (0-1 for -.5 units)

Well, Maine beat Ky, shoulda taken that I guess... wasn't sure. Not that I was too sure about the La Cali game. I am less disappointed in Lafayettes effort tonight than Iowa's yesterday. At least they tried!

Guess my greed got the best of me with that ML, La had a great chance to hit a grandslam homerun (bases loaded, no outs) and take the lead in the game, but "Cajun-chubbs", as I will for now and forever call him (due to his triple chin and deer in the headlights look in his eyes), managed to not only strike out but get his teammate out as well, ending they're great chance to win the game. Cali would later go on to win 9-3. Ho hum... the RL was one off, thought La was going to make up for it, but Cali's 17 yo pitcher took care of the hitting in the later innings.

                Nascar (1-0 +1 unit)
                LLWS (0-3 -1.5 units)

                    Thanks Budd,
I'm being to hard on the kid, you're absolutely right. It wasn't a good call to send the kid running home (one might argue terrible!). Fun game to watch though, so much happens in these games! Bring on Ewa Beach!

(I still think La had a good shot there, we'll get em Budd!)
