    13) I think two preseason games are all coaches need; anything more is exercise in extortion, where owners can get $70 a ticket out of a football-starved public.

    12) I think it is more fun to read stories about Tracy McGrady taking batting practice with the Mississippi (AA) Braves, and hitting two balls out of the park, than about Sam Cassell whining about how he wants a longer contract after being traded to the Clippers. You get traded to the Clips, you've done something to deserve it.

    11) I think it was easy to predict that Heat-Lakers would be a Christmas Day game. Phil Jackson must really, really like Jeannie Buss, going back to coach the Kobe Lakers.

    10) I think it will be interesting to see what Coach Gretzky does the first time someone sends a goon on the ice to start trouble with one of his finesse players.

    9) I think Mets screwed up by not trading Mike Piazza couple of years ago, when they could have gotten something for him; they screwed up worse by not signing Vlad Guerrero last year.

    8) I think it is funny that Tommy Lasorda once penned an article entitled, "I Hate the Philly Phantic" Now the big fella (Phanatic, not Lasorda) is in the Mascot Hall of Fame.

    7) I think sitting in an air conditioning teletheater and watching, investing in horse races from all over the country is 100 times more fun that battling crowds and going to Saratoga, where they run nine or ten races which you have to watch on TV anyway, since it is so crowded there. The night life is way better in Saratoga, though.

    6) I think the Saints will either be the surprise team of the NFC, or Jim Haslett will be first coach to get fired. One or the other will happen.

    5) I think being a baseball fan in Kansas City is not fun right now. The team tries very hard, but they are sub-standard, talent-wise, and it is a depressing situation.

    4) I think it is amazing that back in the 50's and 60's, more football players didn't die from heat exhaustion during summer drills.

    3) I think not letting your assistant coaches talk to the media is stupid. It doesn't matter, one way or the other, other than it lets the head coach control every word written about his team, but life is too short to be so paranoid.

    2) I think the Wild Card in baseball is a beautiful thing. A salary cap would be even better.

    1) I think that teams now, starting with Tampa Bay firing Keyshawn Johnson a while back, are becoming more proactive about dealing with these cancer-type players. Because of this, I think the Eagles will rid themselves of Mr. T.O. (Thrown Off?) the first chance they get. Probably next spring.

Cowboys @ Seahawks-- Parcells tries to win exhibition games, but he ran into Denny Green last week, who wins them even more than Parcells. Seattle was awesome at New Orleans last week; their backup QBs are Wallace and couple of rookies, so Dallas has edge with Henson and NFL Europe vet Romo. Seahawks won four of last five summer home games. Fans will be fired up, but guest might be more motivated to win this game.
