Maine is a little more known for their hockey team. They have a few National Titles and have always been a top 5 school nationwide. They had a little success in football about 10 years ago with a guy named Mike Buck at QB. He backed up in N.O. for 2 or 3 years. I don't think they ever won a National Title with him though.

All Maine really has is the Portland Sea Dogs (AA) Red Sox team. They are loaded with Bostons rich farm system and in 1st place right now. We also have the Portland Pirates (AHL) Hockey team for the new parent club Anaheim Mighty Ducks. Everyone here (or at least 90%) is a Boston Sports fan because it is only 1 hour south. Our sports are well received up here but we don't turn out much talent on a pro level. The hockey team has produced the most by a big margin. Our 2 best athletes on the College or minor league level right now are Nick Caner Medley (Starter for Maryland hoops team) and Mark Rogers (2004 1st round pick by the Milw. Brewers).

Bud, We won a football game @ Mississippi St last year. It wasn't a big task for most but it was a BIG win up here. Hey, we went on the road and beat a SEC football team. hahaha they were bad!!!
