Here we go with Monday's plays...............

3 STAR: MILWAUKEE (RITCHIE)(+$130) OVER St. Louis (Tomko)

The Brewers will be playing with some confidence after winning on the road at Arizona against Johnson and Schilling. Their starting pitcher Todd Ritchie is 21-11 against the money line in home games when playing against a team with a winning record since 1997. Ritchie is also 8-2 in home games versus good power teams that are averaging 1.25 or more homeruns per game over the last 3 seasons. Road teams with a money line of -100 to -150 that have a winning percentage of 54% to 62% that are playing a terrible team with a losing percentage of 38% or less in April games are 3-19 over the last 5 seasons.

3 STAR: Colorado (Cruz)(+$145) OVER ARIZONA (Kim)

Byung-Hyun Kim (0-2, 4.91 ERA) makes his first home start for Arizona. On Wednesday, the converted reliever allowed four runs and five hits in six innings of a 5-2 loss at Los Angeles. Nelson Cruz (2-0, 3.27) has pitched well thus far for Colorado after being inserted into the rotation because of injuries to Denny Neagle and Denny Stark. Last Wednesday, Cruz allowed two runs in six innings in a 9-4 win over St. Louis. Home favorites with a money line of -125 to -175 that have lost 4 or 5 of their last 6 games, and have a winning percentage of 38% or less are 45-62 over the last 5 seasons.

3 STAR: Florida (Burnett)(+$130) OVER PHILADELPHIA (PADILLA)

The Phillies come off back to back 8-5 and 13-1 wins in the last two games of the series at Cincinnati and that sets up a nice spot for the Marlins in this game. The Phillies are only 6-18 after scoring 8 runs or more 2 straight games since 1997. A.J. Burnett (0-0, 2.57) will make his second start for Florida after being activated off the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday. Burnett allowed two runs and five hits in seven innings in his debut, a 3-2 win over the New York Mets. He pitched well against the Phillies last season going 1-0 with a 2.61 ERA in three starts.

2 STAR: New York (Trachsel)(+$130) OVER MONTREAL (VASQUEZ)

I look for the Mets to avoid the sweep today. Steve Trachsel pitched well in his last outing but did not figure in the decision after allowing one run and six hits in six innings in Wednesday's 3-2 loss at Florida. The veteran righthander is 7-4 lifetime against the Expos. Road underdogs with a money line of +100 or higher off 2 straight road losses versus a division rival with a starting a pitcher who gave up 1 or less earned runs last outing are 63-45 since 1997. Also, road underdogs with a money line of +100 or higher that are revenging 4 or more straight losses versus an opponent in last 2 years, after scoring 1 or less runs in a loss to a division rival are 30-18 over the last 5 seasons.

2 STAR: SEATTLE (PINERO)(-$115) OVER Oakland (Mulder)

The Mariners are 102-42 with a hot bullpen whose ERA is under 3.00 in the last 10 games over the last 3 seasons. Seattle is also 59-27 after 6 consecutive games versus division rivals over the last 3 seasons. Oakland's starting pitcher Mark Mulder has not had great success against the Mariners in the past. The A's are only 3-4 against Seattle in games started by Mulder and his ERA in those starts is 4.19.

    * ALL LISTED PITCHERS MUST START OR THE PLAY IS NO ACTION

    Good luck,
