Never bet on baseball before and I am confused on how much you can wager on a game and how much you will win or lose.Example If I were to bet 20 dollars on the Cardinals at +154 how much would I win and if I lose would I just lose my 20 dollars. I dont know if you can wager that small of an amount on baseball or if you have to bet in increments of 100 dollars. Any help would be appreciated.

if you place your wagers online you can usually bet as little as $5.
If you play the Cards +154 a $20 wager would win you $30.8. The most you can lose is $20.
If you play a favorite and they were listed at -150 for example, you would need to bet $30 to win $20.

If you bet the Cards (underdog at + 154) reads this way....
10.00 pays 15.40, thus 20.00 pays 30.80....
The easy way to do it, is if a team is +123, visualize the + 123 as a $1.23....
Thus 1.00 = 1.23 back, 10.0 = 12.30, 20.00 = 24.60....In essence every dollar is = to the line.....
Now lets say you play a favorite at -154, you would put up 1.54 to win 1.00, a 10.00 wager would be putting up 15.40 to win 10.00, or putting up 30.80 to win 20.00...
The key is to be extra cautious of high lines....Try and find teams that are at -130 or less and play them till you get a feel for it.....
Baseball is wagered by laying odds, versus giving or taking runs...This will come in time....
Get you an account at Pinnacle, and you can wager those amts you spoke of....

Kmann so what your saying is I should bet the 30.80 if I want to win 20 dollars on the above favorite is that the more logical bet and do they allow you to bet in cents would my total winnings be 50.80 or just the 20 dollars. Do you have to pay any juice when you bet parlays.Comment

You would get the 30.80 you put up plus the 20.00...Now you would have 50.80 to play with....But you're putting up 1/3 more the money cause the odds are so high....Originally posted by berto99
When you see a line at -154, the juice (Vig) is already factored in...Some games that are a pick---Team A -105, Team B -105, either way you go, you're putting up 1.05 to win 1.00...Remember the VIG is included in already as juice....
And to answer your question, re laying 15.40 to win 10.00 on a consistent basis this will cost you money....Big favorites lose...Set a parameter for yourself (cut off on lines) such as -130 or less, and try those for a while...Don't throw it all aweay on Juice....
Course--the most Important thing is---you have to pick the winner...
Pick a capper here, and follow him for a while, using small bets, see how you do...Take it from there...
Chuckie Cheese, Spark, Wayne, Big Weiner, RJ, and some others have been pretty consistent....I think Spark is up over 100 units thus far....The 3 WiseMen have been hot as of late....kapt

Some good advice was given here...You can also do a Round Robin x 2`s and 3 for 5 bucks or whatever...say you pick 3 teams, pay 5$ for each = 15$, then the 3 which ****** all , for another 5 bucks, = 20$....If you hit two of the three, you win on those, but lose the `all`, and if you hit all three, you win what would amount to a 3 team parlay, plus the others...or you can just play the x2`s and not the all....If 2 of 3 win, you will still win a few bucks, and if all 3 win, even better!....If not, you lose the whole ticket....GL today
