Walker to Heat in five-team, 13-player megadeal
By Tim Reynolds, The Associated Press
MIAMI — In the largest trade in NBA history, Antoine Walker was dealt from Boston to Miami on Tuesday night in a transaction involving five teams and 13 players.

Antoine Walker will have a new address in Miami next season.

The Heat also acquired point guard Jason Williams and small forward James Posey from Memphis, while the Grizzlies received guard Eddie Jones from the Heat. The New Orleans Hornets and Utah Jazz were also involved in the deal.

The trade was larger than a 12-player, four-team deal in 2000 involving Patrick Ewing that had been the biggest in league history.

Miami also received Andre Emmett from Memphis and the draft rights to Roberto Duenas from the Hornets; Utah received Greg Ostertag from Memphis; Boston picked up Curtis Borchardt from Utah and a package —Qyntel Woods, the draft rights to Albert Miralles, two second-round draft picks and cash — from Miami; New Orleans acquired Rasual Butler from Miami and Kirk Snyder from Utah; and the Grizzlies received guard Raul Lopez from the Jazz.

If you were to ask me I'd say that the Grizzlies got the short end on this deal. I don't know why Miami went after Walker, he blows. He is one of the most overrated player in the NBA IMO. If anything I think Miami got a little worse with this deal.

Walker is okay i would rather have eddie jones though, James Posey is not a bad pick up either i dont know why the hell they would want jason williams he freakin blows. Im surprised they traded eddie jones he played pretty well for us last year.

They picked up white choc because they lost dooling and maybe damon jones. I think they want to play D-wade at the two more and rotate Toine and JWill at the pt. Jwill isn't as bad as you think. I mean Memphis did make the playoffs two years in a row. Additionally you can't say anyone on that Memphis team was the "BEST" player outside of Gasol. I say Miami is the best now then Indiana with Jasikevicius and Artest back. And Detroit is now third. The East is better now but still no one is taking out San Antonio just yet.

I like the JWill pick up, I think he'll flourish under Shaq, they'll be fun to watch. These guys aren't stupid, they know if you give Shaq the ball, you'll get wideopen shots. Great trade for the Heat.

Good trade for both the Heat and Grizzlies. Walker should thrive in a situation where he is not the go-to guy. With Wade and Shaq, Walker will always be open on the perimeter. He'll hit a lot of 3s. Also, Jason Williams is an improvement at point guard over Damon Jones.

As for the Grizzlies, they get Eddie Jones who is better than Williams and Posey, the guys they gave up.

FWIW, the Heat, if healthy, now look like the league's best team.

And Now for some Ladies WBNA (Whatever) news.

Bogues takes over on Sting's bench. This could get comical to watch.

CHARLOTTE (AP) — The struggling Charlotte Sting have replaced Trudi Lacey as coach with former NBA player Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues, The Associated Press has learned.
Bogues will be introduced as the Sting's new head coach Wednesday afternoon, a team source said. Charlotte has the WNBA's worst record at 3-21, with four fewer wins than the next worst team.

Standing just 5-foot-3, Bogues endeared himself to basketball fans in North Carolina — first at Wake Forest then with the NBA's Charlotte Hornets — with his determined play at point guard. He remained a popular figure in the Charlotte area, taking a job with the Hornets' successors, the Charlotte Bobcats.

Bogues' hire is the latest in a series of moves by the struggling franchise, which traded three-time Olympic gold medalist Dawn Staley on Monday and announced Tuesday that guard Allison Feaster — the team's leading scorer in 2003 and 2004 — would miss the rest of the season with ligament pain.

Bogues left Wake Forest in 1987 as the Atlantic Coast Conference's all-time leader in assists and steals, and became one of 10 players to have his jersey retired by the school
