  • Cards with Carpenter

Will be on my Redbirds tonight w/Carpenter on the mound. A few facts on Carpenter who shut out the red hot Astros and Roger Clemens his last time out. Carpenter is 5-1 against the Cubs with a 3.35 era, but in his last six starts, he sports a ridiculous 0.36 era. That means he has given up two runs in 50 2/3 innings in those 6 consecutive wins while allowing 20 hits, walking just seven and striking out 54. Pretty impressive. Cards are 31-11 against central division opponents while Carpenter is 9-0 with a 1.28 era against the same. La Russa shuffled his rotation so that Carpenter and Morris would face Houston last week and the Cubbies this weekend. Have to go with the hot pitcher tonight. GLTA

Good luck RamFan. Carpenter is tough. My Astros have been doing a lot better since they got out of St. Louis.

Its a low number 7. But Cards 7-2-1 under last 10. Carpenter 10-0 under last 10.

The series price of Cardinals (-160) looks very tempting.

The pitching matchups for the weekend are:

                    Friday: Zambrano vs. Carpenter
                    Saturday: J. Williams vs. Morris
                    Sunday: Prior vs. Suppan

I am considering placing a big bet on the Cards series price and was wondering what the rest of you thought. Thanks.
