        13) When exactly does Kenny Rogers get suspended? Another example of why baseball has lost its spot at the #1 sport; their commissioner has almost no power. You think this stunt would fly in the NBA? The NFL? Hockey, maybe.

        12) Speaking of hockey, congrats on ending the labor dispute. Let's get those Zambonis cranked up and sharpen the skates. Will be interesting to see what rule changes they've come up with to liven up the sport.

        11) There is a difference-making kid named Crosby who was supposed to be the gem of the '05 NHL Draft, except the draft hasn't happened yet. How exactly do they determine what team gets his rights?

        10) No matter what, it will take a couple of years to soften up mainstream media into liking hockey again, but at least they're going to be playing. They do need a cable deal, though.

        9) Consensus from what you read is that the 19-year old age limit the NBA has established is not being well-received. Some of the high school kids think certain players won't go to college, they'll go to prep school and then hit the NBA Lottery. Uncharted waters here, so will be fun to follow how this turns out.

        8) Again, a huge dilemma for coaches at top 25 college hoop programs: Recruit a star player who is a 1-and-done guy, or a lesser player, who will be with you for at least three, hopefully four years? Coaches who foul this up will lose their job.

        7) Invitational poker tournaments are now all over TV. Getting established as one of the regulars on these events has to be like hitting the lottery to these players, since as recently as two years ago, poker was not mainstream anything. Now CBS is showing a tournament Christmas Day.

        6) What's next, Rockin' New Year's with Doyle Brunson?

        5) If you light up a cigarette at a table in the World Series of Poker, you get tossed. No questions asked, no appeals, you leave. Bud Selig should take note.

        4) ESPN has lost its mind. It used to be a great sports station. Now, the line has blurred, and they're trying to become like MTV. ESPN is showing a tape of the ESPYs Sunday night at 9 (yes, a four-day old awards' show), so the Sunday night primetime game will start at 6, not the usual 8.

Problem is, the game is Bronx at Boston, an important game. Ever sit in right field bleachers at Fenway at sundown? You can't see, the sun is bright, for about 15-20 minutes, so in a critical inning of this game, the rightfielder is going to be blinded, because ESPN is showing a four-day old rerun of a dumb awards show. Great.

        3) Name one good reason why they couldn't have shown the ESPYs Wednesday night, live.

        2) If they had to show a game at 6:00 Sunday, why not a west coast game?

        1) I mean, they treat poker better than baseball. Granted, poker might be better organized, but still............
