  • Sat. Open Head2Head Play of Day

    730 B. Van Pelt +126
    OVER
    729 F. Couples
    9:15 EST Tee Off

I heard that Fred Couples "back" almost went out on him today on one of his shots, which makes him an interesting "play against" at + money. I think Fred said he might not be able to continue. If he does continue then he's going to play tentative and obviously not at the top of his game. I see both of these players games going in opposite directions tomorrow with Van Pelt getting an easy win.......I hope

Fred shot -1 today 3 birdies 2 bogies
Van Pelt shot -5 today 6 birdies 1 bogie

    GL if you play!
I'm 5-11" or 6-2" depending on which convenience store I'm coming out of.

Does seem right interesting. Fred has had back problems before and usually gets adequate treatment and plays fine through it. If muscular -he will compete. If skeletal- nah. If a back slips out then the ligaments are stretched - which means he can have further problems if he plays. GL

Not a head-to-head play but how about Goosen under 70.5 tomorrow?
The weather looks to be good. The first round he hit 11 GIR, had 27 putts and shot 68. The 2nd round he hit 16 GIR, had 36 putts and shot 73. Damn, 16 GIR! He should be even more aggresive tomorrow and the little stick can only get better than that meager offering of 36 strokes.

Personally I don't those plays, especially going into the weekend, because the pin placements will get tougher and the weather could really jake things up. That's why i prefer head2head because no matter the pin placements and weather they both are playing the same conditions.

Good point Willy G - both seems like sound plays. Never played on golf before but why not.

On ESPN tonight, everyone is begging for rain or they say Tiger will kill them at the rate he's going. I put $100 on your play. I'll be rooting!

You raise a very good point about the pins. They don't like seeing double digits after 2 days even if it is Eldrick Woods. I still think with not much of a weather factor Goosen should beat 71, but hell I have been wrong more than I have been right!

Line has already moved toward Van Pelt down to +118

I really feel good about this one, we'll see.........

Whoa mine doesn't either. I played this instead:

                            Golf - PGA Head-to-Head Moneyline 2005 British Open - 3rd Round July 16th (8:30am) S Appleby vs T Clark
                            Tim Clark -120

                            Golf - PGA Head-to-Head Moneyline 2005 British Open - 3rd Round July 16th (8:00am) E Els vs P Mickelson
                            Ernie Els -140

I see later its not Michelson but rather Retief Goosen against Els------Do they change around to get action?
