  • Tex Hold-Um Tourney Won

From 52 players. I played through table after table. I got down to 850 dollars short stack and went all in with five players tagging along. I won on a higher kicker. I took out the table and now onto the final table ( forgot what they call it ) and since I had the most chips now- I just let them be excused one at a time- bringing it to a showdown for two of us.
He had 1/3 more chips now. He had also been down to near nothing and roared back.

Played two hands and I won after he would not call my bets. I was now in the lead. My opponent said "you're the chip leader". There was some talking around the table and I didn't understand what he said- about 15 people hanging over and around the table.

I asked my friend -"What did he say to me?" I must have looked quite puzzled -like it was a bad remark - because they started laughing. Chip Leader- Dude!!! Chip Leader.

"I remarked back- Never been called that before" Chit Head, Chit For Brains, but never Chip Leader."
(After all--I am a virgin at this - my first time ever playing in a tourney.)
We are playing with all black chips and he was counting them. He wanted to stop the game and go outside for a smoke-

I said "No - lets play on - its getting past midnight." He made a statement like- I will probably go out on the next hand - I knew I had em, now. Confidence is everything in this game and he looked a bit short of it.
If I had anything- Q high or better, I was hitting it hard.
    I drew Qd Js.
    I bet 8000. He called-

    The flop was J, 7 and 9.
I paired my J's and decided to go all in. He called.

He turned over a J and A and my breathing became shallow, He was high fiving and feeling euphoric.
I knew I needed to make up ground with another Queen.

The turn was an 8 and he sat back in his chair - more quiet now. Someone from behind said. Q or a 10.
    The river was a 10.

My opponent looked stunned as others started to congratulate me. He asked what happened- and a friend stated that I drew a higher straight that his.

Just thought I might share the experience. Never give up!!!

That’s right. Like boxing , everyone wants to be undefeated, this game doesn’t work like that!

A chip and a chair is all you need sometimes.

            Great Job Spearit!!!

Two things strangely happened - my biggest hand of the night. Two aces with one inadvertently flipped over on the deal. With only three of us playing it was a dead hand now. They folded.
The second was being dealt jacks and a player calls a miss deal because he saw the dealers cards. I now would ask if he saw his own and then called the misdeal- but I am still a greenhorn at this. It went as a misdeal and yet with 9 players on the table- I would have probably loss some money on it as Jacks have not always been kind.
However, I got them again later and they won. I also saw the #3 man lose on them to take him out of the tourney. Thanks guys
