Today the National Sports Advisors look for the Lakers to win and cover as -4.5 point favorites, when they matchup with Dallas in the Staples Center tonight.
The Lakers enter tonight's game with an overall record of 46-31, including 28-10 at home. Los Angeles, which has won 12 in a row at home, secured a postseason berth for the ninth straight season with Sunday's victory over Phoenix. The Lakers have won 24 in a row at home against Dallas, dating to Dec. 12, 1990. Also since that victory, the Mavs have gone just 5-43 overall against the Lakers. LA is 38-39 against the spread this season.
Dallas enters tonight's game with an overall record of 57-19, including 26-11 on the road. A loss tonight would drop Dallas into a tie with San Antonio for the league's best record and the top seed in the West. Dallas is 36-40 against the spread this season.
So why the LAKERS? Well, clearly it is not an understatement to say that the Lakers have owned Dallas. When you beat a team 43 out of 48 and 24 in a row at home, you clearly have a huge psychological advantage. Add to that fact that the Lakers are a better team, despite the records, and we feel the Lakers are a very good play tonight.
