      Battman

lost with the Mariners last night to cut the bankroll to 440 higueras.

Today, he'll see if Santos can be the man — 10 units on the Brewers. Plus, 10 units on the Indians.

          Free play from TopHat
          Baseball:
          1 Unit on Pittsburgh Pirates -115 (Padilla - R, Redman - L)
Pittsburgh and Redman have a TPR Rating of 3.39 for this match up. This situation does not favor Philly and Padilla he has a TPR Rating of only 1.17 for this game. We will back the small home fav here as Pitt gets the win!

              SCOTT SPREITZER'S 10* TKO BUSINESSMAN'S SPECIAL!
              Cost: Free Pick ($40) Ungraded

              Handicapper: Scott Spreitzer

              League: MLB

Event: New York Mets vs Washington Nationals on 07/07/2005 at 10:05

              Condition: Washington Nationals

              Grade: Ungraded

Promotion: I'm backing the Nationals with Tony Armas over Kris Benson! The Nats suffered a rare home defeat on Wednesday, blowing a 3-1 lead with Hernandez on the hill. Coming into this series, the Nats were on a 22-4 run at spacious RFK! Now, Armas looks to make sure they don't drop their first home series since April 27! They couldn't ask for a better stopper in this ballpark. Although he's struggled away from home, Armas owns a 3-0 mark in D.C., with a 2.83 ERA! In 5 Armas' starts at RFK, Nationals' opponents are averaging just 3.14 total runs per game. Meanwhile, Kris Benson has been nothing special away from Shea. In fact, to go along with his 5.10 road ERA this season, Benson has allowed 27 base runners in his last 3 road starts, for a 13.50 MBA. He has been walking too many batters as of late, and will find himself in trouble on Thursday against a team that's used to winning at home! I'm backing the Nationals to salvage a series split, with Armas vs. Benson! Thanks! Good Luck! Scott.

SCOTT SPREITZER'S MLB UNDERDOG SHOCKER OF THE WEEK!
              Cost: $40 Ungraded

              Handicapper: Scott Spreitzer

              League: MLB

Event: Philadelphia Phillies vs Pittsburgh Pirates on 07/07/2005 at 16:05

              Condition: Pittsburgh Pirates

              Grade: Ungraded

Promotion: I'm taking the price with the Pirates and Duke over the Phillies and the struggling Brett Myers! The Pirates purchased the contract of 22-year old lefty Zach Duke from Indianapolis on July 1, and he began his MLB career with a bang, going 7 innings at Miller Park, allowing just 3 earned runs while punching out 9 and walking just 1! He'll be matched up against Myers who has fallen off after a solid start to the season. In fact, his ERA is 5.71 in his last 7 outings, and he's allowed 16 earned runs and 27 base runners in his last 15.2 IP! That's a hefty 9.17 ERA and a 15.48 MBA in his last 3 starts. And, now we get the other side as a decent-sized home dog, where the Pirates have actually cashed 13 of 21 tickets since May 20! We'll go with Pittsburgh's young lefty, Zach Duke over the struggling Brett Myers! Thanks! Good Luck! Scott.

Larry Ness' 10* NL Total of the Month (65% TY w/ MLB totals!)
              Cost: Free Pick ($40) Ungraded

              Handicapper: Larry Ness

              League: MLB

Event: Cincinnati Reds vs San Francisco Giants on 07/07/2005 at 19:15

              Condition: Over

              Grade: Ungraded

Promotion: Cincinnati's Aaron Harang ended May 4-2 with an ERA of 2.97. He should have stopped there! Over his last six starts, he's gone 0-5 (team is 0-6), with an ERA of 6.38. His road ERA this year is 5.40. SF's Brett Tomko has an ERA of 5.16 on the year and hasn't started since June 26. In that game, he allowed 10 hits and six ERs in just 2.2 innings, as the Giants lost 16-0 to the A's! With an ERA of 10.13 over his last four starts after that outing, the Giants sent him to the bullpen where he's made a couple of appearances. He's now back in the rotation and coupled with Harang's poor efforts as of late, the Giants and Reds will both score runs in this one. The Reds have taken two of three so far at SF and with a win, would caputure their first road series this year. To do that, they'll HAVE to score runs. NL Total of the Month 10* Over.
