vegas experts tip of the Cleveland Indians at Baltimore Orioles, Sunday, July 3, 2005 6:05 P.M. EST EST

The biggest winner on each staff, Lee for Cleveland and Ponson for Baltimore, shapes up as a pitchers' duel. Twilight start time will make it tough on the hitters. CLEVELAND is 17-6 UNDER after batting .290 or better over a 20 game span over the last 2 seasons and 50-34 UNDER after a game where the bullpen gave up no runs over the last 2 seasons. BALTIMORE is 81-51 UNDER in home games after a win by 4 runs or more since 1997 and 11-2 UNDER in home games after 2 or more consecutive unders this season.

    Play on: Under

          Guaranteed Pick: Rob Veno

Game: Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies Jul 3 2005 8:05PM
          Prediction: under
Reason: Flame throwing righties Tejeda & Sosa both capable of quieting opposing lineups here and all important bullpen arms ready to back up and keep late innings clean.

Game: Texas Rangers at Seattle Mariners Jul 3 2005 4:05PM
            Prediction: Seattle Mariners
Reason: The Rangers are 2-7 (-4.9 net games) when playing a road game with a total listed at either 8 or 8.5. The Rangers are also a poor 4-12 (-9.2 net games) vs. left-handed starters. Rogers has had a great season for Texas so far. However, he is coming off a poor game where he allowed 10 hits and 6 earned runs over 3 1/3 innings and his mental state might not be at it's best as he is pitching today's game while having appealed his 20 game suspension. Sundays have typically been a good day for the Mariners as they are 8-5 (+3.7 net games) on Sundays this season and 39-27 (+10.4 net games) on Sundays the past three seasons. I really like the M's, currently listed as sligh

Larry Ness 10* NL GOM Arizona Diamondbacks at Los Angeles Dodgers Jul 3 2005
            Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers
Reason: In was not a good day for the Dodgers on Saturday and in particular for Derek Lowe. LA lost 7-5, as Lowe gave up four solo HRs, the most-ever in a single game (138 career starts). Neither the D'backs (lost 11 of 16) nor the Dodgers (lost 13 of 18) are playing well but I STRONGLY favor the Dodgers in the rubber game of this series. Brad Halsey of Arizona has shown signs this year of promise but not lately! In five June starts, he's lasted just 26.1 innings, allowing 46 hits and 23 ERs (7.86 ERA!). LA rookie DJ Houlton opposes Halsey here and this youngster has EARNED a place in LA's rotation. He's made five starts, gaining a decision in each one (4-1)! He's not allowed more than th

Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies Jul 3 2005 8:05PM
            Prediction: under
Reason: At 8:05 pm, on ESPN, our selection is on the 'under'. Both Jorge Sosa and Robinson Tejeda have pitched well in limited starts this season. Sosa has started 4 games and has compiled a 2.95 ERA in those starts with a 1.12 WHIP. He's also faced some tough hitting clubs, pitching at Florida, Cincy, and Texas, and he had a home start against Florida as well. Tejeda also has had 4 starts this season, and his ERA is a super 1.31 with a 1.06 WHIP in those games. Tejeda walked 5 Mets in his last start, but aside from that, there is not much to find fault with in his stats. Take the 'under' tonight. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie. And don't miss my 3-game baseball card this afternoon
