  • Game 7 Finals Home Advantage misleading

Over the next 30 hours, you'll see a lot about the overwhelming home advantage in Game 7. While Game 7s have a big home team advantage over history, it's not really the case in the finals.

In NBA history, the Finals have gone 7 games 15 times and the home team is 12-3 SU. But, that's misleading as almost all of those games were early in NBA history.

In fact, there have been only three game 7s in the finals in the last 26 years!!!
The home team has won all of them---Houston in 94, Lakers in 88 and Celtics in 84. However, the Bullets won game 7 in Seattle in 78 and the Celtics won Game 7 in Milwaukee in 74. The other game 7 road winner was the Celtics in Los Angeles in 69. Of the last seven finals to go 7 games, the home team is only 4-3. Prior to the Celtics 1969 win in LA, the home team was 8-0 in Game 7 Finals.

One thing of note, since the NBA went to the present 2-3-2 format for the finals, no team has ever won game 6 and 7 on the road. Ever. But that is also misleading, as only three series have gone to seven games since the switch to the current 2-3-2 format.

i offer all of the above information as a service to all at bc as at the present time I am unable to pick a winner to save my ****ing life.
