  • Why Pittsburgh Tonight?

I would like to know why many cappers including some good ones are betting the stinking Pirates and laying the pretty big price against Wash, which has won 14-17.
If you have been betting against the Pirates of late, it has been like stealing(fitting as that is what real pirates are known for).
Can anyone tell me why they think is is "stealing" tonight to bet on Pitt. rather than against them.

Eventhough I am positive you were not referring to me as one of those "good" handicappers, I will tell you how I feel.
Pitt did lose 5 of 6 heading into last night, but that was on the road vs.Yanks and BoSox.
I don't feel Drese is as good as his last game and I am looking for him to return to the form he had before the trade now that the emotion from his first start w/ his new team is past. He does make hitters hit lots of grounders. In Pitt I feel that may be a detriment with the SLOW grass.
BUT mostly my favorite angle in Baseball is to play a home team that has lost their last two.....
    Remember the three R's:
Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.

Here's the reason why I like it. I throw harder than Ryan Drese, that's not a joke. I realize he did have a good outting last time out, but really I think he's pretty worthless. Meanwhile Perez, who was dominating last year, is finally starting to pitch that way this year. Since they're at home and since they lost last night, I like them to win this one at home. Good luck.

Thanks guys;I may not play the game at all(maybe the over), but doesn't conventional wisdom say you bet the hot team against a cold team ESPECIALLY when the hot team is a dog?

Yes it does Savage. But also wisdom says to take Pghs best pitcher against Washingtons worst. I for one bet against all those 6 last games for Pgh. Perez was hurt early on and missed spring training and started out slow, but was 4-0 before his last lose!

Chuck-The great respect I have for you as probably the best capper here day in and day out is the reason I will not bet Wash. tonight;I think I will probably pass and figure if Pitt. wins, I will have saved money.
Thanks for your input;it is appreciated.
ps I know overs and unders aren't your thing, but what kind of score do you see?
            Thanks

1 MORE TIDBIT IF I MAY. 1 THING YOU SHOULD TAKE NOTE OF IS THAT PEREZ IS GETTING LIT UP BY LEFTIES ALL YEAR FOR HUGE NUMBERS. AND A FEW OF THOSE LEFTIES ARE CHURCH,WILKERSON,JOHNSON,BAERGA. THOSE ARE SOME BIG BATS TO BE HITTING PEREZ TONIGHT. THE OVER LOOKS ALOT SAFER. THIS ONE COULD GET NASTY BY THE 5th.
TO BET OR NOT TO BET THAT IS THE QUESTION

Perez was getting hit by lefties earlier in the year, cause there was no break on his pitches, he got off to a slow start, we'll see how those lefties do tonight. Perez is always good for a few walks, which should lead to a few runs, let's hope the Pirates and the over.

Now I know why-congrats to all who played it, and thanks to Chuck and others for at least keeping me away from Wash. and playing the over instead.
