Spurs (2-1) @ Pistons-- Champ Pistons still desperate, but more confident after 96-79 win in Game 3, as they forced 18 turnovers and held Spurs to 43.3% from floor. Detroit also scored 55 second half points, after getting 34,32 in first two games. Ginobili had just six points, no assists and six turnovers after he suffered thigh bruise in first 0:21 of game. They'll need more from him tonight.

Pistons still just 4 for 26 on treys in series, but they used to defense to create some transition hoops Tuesday- the home court helped Detroit, as they shot 47.1%, after a dismal showing of 37.7%/40.2% in Alamo.

            13) Will John Madden be the first announcer to work for all four major networks? He has signed to do the Sunday night NFL games on NBC, starting in 2006.

            12) Let's review; in best-of-7 series, it is not must-win game, unless a loss ends your season. Remember the Red Sox last year? They rallied from 3-0 deficit to win when everyone said Game 3 was "must win"

            11) Thumbs up for lime flavored Pepsi; good stuff.

            10) Phil Jackson has contacted Scottie Pippen about being an assistant with the Lakers; wonder how he is going to react when Pippen draws up a play, and one of his star players pouts, because it isn't a play for him.

            9) How does Rick Barry not have a job in basketball? One of the all-time great players, with two sons in the league; he was once the color analyst on CBS games, but his candid nature rubs people wrong way. Figures.

            8) Notre Dame last won a bowl in 1993, but with ten starters back on offense, including their whole OL, this season is set up for them to do well.

            7) Will the Browns void Kellen Winslow's contract? Can they? It seems like his injuries are pretty severe; he won't play this year, and may never be the player he was supposed to be. Do they have to pay him, as injuries were caused by wreckless off-field actions?

            6) Arizona Cardinals are fashionable choice to win in the NFC West. Doesn't say much for Rams or Seattle

            5) There are Bronx baseball executives who want to replace Joe Torre with Lou Piniella, should Piniella be able to escape Tampa. Thanks for the loyalty, fellas.

            4) Now that Arena Football is over, we'll be analyzing all the high-paced action of the Canadian League, as the CFL kicks off its regular season next week. Look for analysis of CFL games on the NFL page.

            3) Going through college football stuff for the fall, and it is strange to realize that a Cincinnati-South Florida game is a Big East conference game. Hmmm.......

            2) No player has ever won the US Open if he won the tournament played the previous weekend, which isn't good news for Sergio Garcia.

            1) We mentioned yesterday that Washington acquired Ryan Drese, released by the Rangers, despite being their Opening Day starter. Drese was awesome in his Nationals' debut, limited the Angels to two hits in first eight innings at Anaheim Wednesday night.
