U.S. Open
------------
I have now listened to 2 different Golf analyst on radio interviews who both thought Ernie Els didn't have a good shot at Winning this weekend. They stated that in past events here he was lucky to make the cut and played horribly. Basically, it is NOT a good course for him and he has been average at best this year playing on U.S. soil so i'm eliminating him.
I have to play Tiger for what i think of as obvious reasons. He is pretty much my insurance policy here. If he wins i profit 2 Units and at 5-1 in a major i'll take it. I've seen Tiger at 2-1 or 3-1 in many majors and you have to respect his game, especially in those BIG events that he really cares about!
Phil is Phil. After breaking the Ice by Winning a major i think he has the confidence to Win many more. I like his game and i like his chances here. He lost here by 1 stroke to Payne Stewart in '99. This course plays into Phil's game nicely!
Retief Goosen has Won 2 of the last 4 U.S. Open events and he is very capable of winning another. These tight courses that require a good short game are perfect for him and getting odds of 20-1 make him a no brainer choice for me.
Stewart Cink is not playing his best golf but he has a history of showing up in the Open. He has not done well in the last 3 Open events but in the previous 6 before that he had 5 Top 5 finishes and at 70-1 he's worth a shot here.
Luke Donald is another guy with high odds that i think can compete this weekend. He is up to 12th in the World Rankings and he has 8 Top 25 finishes in 9 events including a Tie for 2nd at the Players Championship and a Tie for 3rd at the Masters. He is a Golfer who hasn't always been on the Big stage but he has shown this year that the pressure doesn't bother him and he belongs there!
Vijay Singh is only hitting 63% of fairways this year and with the high cut grass this weekend i think that could spell trouble for him and his game.
With all that said, i'm playing .......
Tiger Woods (+500) 1 Unit
Phil Mickelson (+800) 1 Unit
Retief Goosen (+2000) 1 Unit
Luke Donald (+2500) 1/2 Unit
Stewart Cink (+7000) 1/2 Unit
Risking 4 Units with a minimum 2 Unit profit if we have the Winner!
GOOD LUCK
:D
