      13) Last September, with eight games to go in a tight pennant race, Anaheim basically cut Jose Guillen, very good player, who had lashed out at manager Scioscia, which is inexcusable. Washington then picked him up.

Nationals are in Anaheim now, and there was ill will in the air Tuesday, as reliever Donnelley was found by an ump to have pine tar in his glove, then both benches emptied, with Guillen having to be dragged back into the dugout by teammates.

Scioscia then checked Washington reliever Majewski for foreign substances, as Frank Robinson was yelling across field at him, so lot of drama between two teams that rarely meet.

      12) Guillen had last laugh, smacking dramatic two-run tater in eighth inning that tied game at 3, in game that Washington won, their 11th win in last 12 games.

      11) Robinson wore sunglasses throughout whole game last two nights, making him look like guy who's sitting on a pocket pair at World Series of Poker. He had corrective surgery on his eyes Monday, so he needs to wear the shades for a few days.

      10) Ohka-Spivey trade been good for both sides thus far, with Ohka tossing shutout last night, after Spivey hit a homer in his first game for Nationals.

      9) More Nationals' fodder; Texas cut Ryan Drese, the Opening Day starter, and Washington added him to fill Ohka's spot in rotation. Nationals visit Texas over this weekend, but Drese won't pitch in that series.

      8) One last Washington rumor; with Christian Guzman hitting under .200, it is rumored that Barry Larkin may be making a comeback for Nationals later this season. Longtime Reds' SS is now working in front office for Washington, so he is available.

      7) Alex Sanchez hit .330 last year, Detroit cut him in spring training; he was hitting .346 for Tampa Bay this year, and the Devil Rays cut him. We're talking about someone with some serious issues, although no idea what they are. No one who hits .340 gets cut, without a very good reason.

      6) Note to self: Next time I get charged with a felony, show up in court wearing pajamas. Defendants 1-0 vs Prosecution this year, when defendant shows up late in court, and is wearing pajamas when he does show up.

      5) You think Ben Wallace set tone Tuesday, when he stole first pass of game, dunked and got fouled? Great players speak with their play, and Wallace plays game so hard, so well, he leads by example.

      4) Phil Jackson's return to the Lakers points one of the basic truths of life: Pretty women always get what they want. Even moreso, if their dad is the boss. Jackson is back with the Lakers, because his beautful girlfriend is the daughter of Lakers' owner Dr Jerry Buss. Nothing else needs to be added.

      3) Atlanta catcher Estrada paints his fingernails, so that the pitcher can better see his fingers, when he gives the signs in night games. No kidding. He really does.

      2) Anyone who shells out $44.95 to watch Tyson on a pay-per-view had better not complain about product they get. The guy himself says he is finished, yet these weasel promoters continue to foist him upon a public that is too willing to pay to watch him get beat by guys who would have hard time surviving as club bouncer.

      1) Note to David Stern: With labor issues up in the air, how about setting aside $15,000,000 ($500,000 per team) and setting up fund for guys who played in NBA prior to 1965, or 1960; older guys who helped game become what it is today, and need some financial help
