Chris Carpenter makes his first start against his former ballclub and should get the "W" here. Carpeneter has a very solid 2.41 ERA on the road this season and a 2.57 ERA overall in his last three starts. The Blue Jays counter with Chris Gaudin who pitched so poorly against Oakland on June 5th that he lasted all of one inning. Not good for him to be making his next start against this St. Louis lineup. St. Louis has slumped recently on offense but they still have one of the best in the league and a great bullpen to boot. They are off a 4-1 loss to Toronto but these Cards tend to bounce back strong after a poor showing as they are 19-4 this year after a loss and 13-1 after scroing 2 runs or less. They just don't lose twice in a row. Home underdogs with a low on-base percentage (<.320) facing a team with a good bullpen (WHIP <1.350) are only 14-52 in the first half of the season since 1997. Two stars on the Cardinals to bounce back.
