        I also think that this just verifies that this sport is "dying" (for lack of a better word) especially the Heavyweights.
        I LOVE boxing, and I keep waiting for it to get back to the days when I was a kid.

          Wally.... We may never see the heavyweights make a comeback... They need to have 3 or 4 STUDS come up at the same time. But as far the middleweight and lightweight division goes i think its great.. I saw one of the best fights in a long time with Corrales vs Castillo. Just prior to that some guy named pocman faught another great fight... That is what is making a strong comeback cause even those divisions were bad... We will probably never see a 'young" Mike Tyson ever again who just dominated the sport but i hoping something will happen with the heavyweight division myself

                A round-by-round account of the heavyweight bout between Mike Tyson (50-5) and Kevin McBride (32-4-1) on Saturday night at the MCI Center in Washington.

                In the undercard, the Sharmba Mitchell-Chris Smith fight at 140 pounds was stopped at 16 seconds of the fifth round. Turning to the scorecards, Mitchell earned a unanimous decision to improve to 56-4.

                Laila Ali defended her WIBA and WBC women's super middleweight belts with a third-round TKO of Erin Toughill.

                Round 1
                McBride comes out throwing the first punches as both fighters take measure of each other. The taller McBride is able to keep his distance, throwing a diet of lefts. Tyson gets in several body shots in the final minute of the round. Neither fighter is in any real danger.

                Round 2
                McBride continues to stick to his game plan, consistently throwing punches to keep Tyson at bay. When the two fighters clinch, McBride looks to lean on Tyson. Tyson is warned for a low blow, which does not hurt McBride. McBride fires punches one at a time, rather than putting together combinations. Tyson throws wide hooks that fail to hit McBride

                Round 3
                Tyson quickly fires two shots at McBride but does not faze him. McBride relies on leaning on Tyson to wear him down. But Tyson gets off a number of effective punches and continues to score at will. Tyson finishes the round with a body shot.

                Round 4
                Tyson opens the fourth with a hard right, but McBride ties him up to prevent further damage. Tyson launches a left uppercut and is beginning to get through McBride's defenses. Tyson scores again with a right to the head and a left to the body. His short left hook has been peppering McBride throughout the fight. To McBride's credit, at 271 pounds, he withstands the assault. The round ends with McBride tying Tyson up, getting in two quick rights.

                Round 5
                The bout enters "uncharted territory" as both fighters slug it out. Even though Tyson is winning the fight on the cards at this point (one judge on the televised bout scores it 38-38 at this point), the fight appears even. Neither fighter appears hurt. McBride consistently has thrown his punches, and Tyson is beginning to tire. McBride scores on a right uppercut that snaps Tyson's head back. McBride presses the attack, scoring more rights. Tyson survives the round.

                  all i can say is WOW!!! i was 9-1 my last 10 fights and guess who was my last loss.....holyfield....i am a sucker for wshed up fighters i guess....i am sorry...but i still contend it was for lack of heart than lack of skills (although highly eroded..both head movement, punching power and commitment...by commitment i mean distance at where his punches were thrown from...although pushing around 271 pounds for 6 rounds is tiring, this kid imho still sucks....he did exactly what i said....tyson just did not deliver....funny thing was he was ahead on 2 of 3 cards at time of retirement........sorry fellas

                    I know. How does he quit while tied or ahead in the fight? It just makes NO SENSE!

                      wayne...i am speechless, but we have seen it all from mike.....it was weird...tyson was biting his gloves all fight...even in between punches.....i just feel bad i talked a guy out of betting mcbride at +400........also the ref sucked......those clinches were illegal from the beginning and if i were mike i woulkd have bent his arm too....

                      boxing's heavyweights have been a joke for a while....not like the guys of ali, frazier, foreman, norton, etc......


                      also i will be removing my tyson quote from my signature....ha ha

                        I have not bought a fight since Tyson/Holyfield. I used to be them all but it is ridiculous. They should not be pay per view anymore. If Mcbride fights a top 10-15 or even top 20 guy he will get smoked and make Tyson look even worse. What bothers me is seeing Tyson not even care after his last 2 losses in the press conference. He looks like and sounds like he just wants to kiss and hug his opponent. It's truly sickening to me!

                          i can not disagree!!! i buy all the fights....i truly love the sport...the best fights are between jr. wleterwight and middleweight and all in between....but the sport has truly fallen in my eyes with no sanctioning body......i think the UFC has a chance to overtake them in terms of entertainment.....

                            After the 3rd round, you can look at Tyson's facial expression and see that he was bored and didn't feel like being in the ring. The heavyweight division is pathetic right now. Boxing needs help right now.

                                my last 2 years of fighting i trained some mma guys in striking...these guys stand up is not that great, but on the ground...look out.....i fought muay thai awhile also, but after a back surgery was not the same.....but the ju jitzu guys are no joke.....i have been tapped out by many......guys who i thought i was superior too, but they suffocate you and use your strength and their leverage against you....and they all are in sick shape!!!
