  • Run Line of Money Line????

Sorry--I know Im asking quite a few questions of late, but this is my first full season of capping and playing baseball.

When do you guys play RL over ML??

I like parlaying big favs (Peavy/Santana)

but I think I would like to play some RL's--take tonight.

    I like Wash -150 and STL -155, so if I split, I lose $$$.

If I play them both -1.5 and split, I play them at +140 and +130--split and win.

    What do you guys think???

You could always play them on the -1 RL at -108 and -109, respectively. But remember that it's dangerous to play too many home favorites on the RL.

Personally, I like the Nats play better than the Cardinals play, but stick with what you liked when you capped them.

I use my local and his website doesnt have RL's at all. SO, there is -1, or -1.5?

Where can I get all of these lines??

First of all, no need to apologize for asking a lot of questions. There is a lot of talent that frequents this board daily and the potential for important information sharing is immeasurable. The problem you may run into is not a lot of responses, and that's not because people don't care it's just because we all lead busy lives ( I think???)

I am no expert, but I will share my opinions with you. I hardly EVER play run lines, I just find it to be a sucker bet because many are enticed by the bigger payout, which imo is exactly what vegas is trying to do. Furthermore, you always have to keep in mind that taking a home fav on the RL is of lesser value than taking an away team on the RL, because in effect you are taking away one half of an inning (the bottom of the ninth). However, I have agreed with wayne on this in that you dont have to have hard and fast rules to live by when gambling. If I notice a team usually wins by more than 1 at home and they are a -200 fav and I like them, sure I will take them on the run line to lessen the risk.

You bring up a good point in your example of the games you like tonight, Wash and St. Louis which are both high favs. I think a lot of us come across this daily and decide what to do. I think I saw GV with a post last night about how to go about betting all three (each team separate and parlaying) to avoid the highest risk.

So, my bottom line answer is I will use a run line in certain situations, e.g. when its a visitor that is too high of a fav, or when its a home team that usually beats teams at home by at least 2.

There are many different opinions on this, maybe we will hear more in this thread.

          Best of Luck to you.

oh yea 1 other thing (frankb double post!!)

The alternate -1 run line instead of -1.5 RL is found at Pinnacle sportsbook. I highly reccomend using this book and when you do click on the link at the top of the forum because it's a sponsor of BC and the traffic from here will help the forum.

BT, LMAO at the double post

Never play a home favorite on the-1.5 RL. You potentially lose 11% of the home teams at bats. Also 27% of the home favorites wins are 1 run victories. As BigTicket suggested consider playing the home favorite -1 on the RL.

Also the road RL dog has an advantage over the home RL dog. Road RL dog might only face the home team for 8 innings. While Home RL dogs will always face the favorite 9 innings.
