MONSTER 20* PLAY on the DODGERS

    20* Los Angeles Dodgers +110 (Weaver/Eaton)

The padres had a day off Monday after returning home from a long road trip. Adam Eaton shutout Jeff Weaver 5 days ago at Dodger stadium. You probably know its very difficult for the same pitcher to defeat the same team twice in less than a week. It was no surprise Eaton was Awesome on Monday. He always dominates the Dodgers in LA. However when Eaton is at home he has a 7.25 ERA Vs, LA. The Padres are Not at full strength. Two of the Padres better players, 3B Sean Buroughs, and SS K. Green are out for the year.

Also, the Dodgers are in a fight for their lives with SF for the Division title. The Dodgers had a huge Comeback win on Sunday over the Rockies and that should help LA in this first game. The Dodgers are 11-5 when playing with a day off while the Padres are 6-7. That stat really doesn't mean much however its relative information

                    BIG AL'S 3-GAME MLB PACKAGE -- 15-6 STREAK
Our 3 selections include Baltimore, the 'over' in the Dodgers/Tigers
game, and the 'over' in the Milwaukee/Yankees game, which is my
                    Interleague Total of the Month.

Baltimore -- At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the Orioles. Baltimore
lost to the Bucs and lefty Dave Williams last night, but that's not
surprising to the extent that the Orioles are doing MUCH BETTER this
season vs. righties (25-14) than lefties (10-9). Baltimore is also
hitting .315 on the road, and scoring 6.8 runs per game. Take the O's
to win the rubber game of this 3-game series.

Detroit/LA Dodgers 'over' -- At 10:10pm our selection is on the
Detroit Tigers at the LA Dodgers 'over' the total. One of the Tigers
nice surprises in the rotation this year, righty Jason Johnson goes
for Detroit while the Dodgers counter with the inconsistent ex-Tiger
righthander, Jeff Weaver. Weaver is a bit of an enigma. Everyone
agrees that he's talented, but for some reason he can't seem to put
it all together since 2002 with the Yankees, the last year he had a
season ERA under four runs. This season he's really struggled with an
ERA of 5.65, while starting half his games in the pitcher friendly
confines of Dodger Stadium. His ERA is actually worse at home than on
the road. Johnson has pitched well, however his last two starts came
against his former ball club, the Orioles, who he seems to have
figured out since leaving them at the end of 2003. Jason has already
faced the Birds three times this year and is 3 - 0 with an ERA of
2.35. But against the rest of the league, Johnson is a below-average
pitcher and on the road this year he is absolutely putrid with an ERA
of 5.70 in 30 innings. Including Tuesday's game, all of the last 10
Detroit games have gone a total of 8 runs or more, and 8 of the last
10 Dodger games have as well. Take the 'over'.

Milwaukee/Yankees 'over' -- At 8:05pm our Interleague Total of the
Month is on the NY Yankees at the Milwaukee Brewers 'over' the total.
After two relatively low scoring affairs to kick off this interleague
series at Miller Park, I think the big sticks are about ready to come
out in game three. Mussina goes for the Yankees and lefthander
Capuano for the Brewers. Mussina has been disappointing and could be
on the downside of his distinguished career now. He is off to one of
the worst starts in his career with a 5 - 4 record (his team is 5 - 7
in games he has started) and 4.32 ERA over the first 1/3 of the
season. Even more troubling for Yankee fans is the state of the
bullpen right now. The relief corps (usually a strength of the
pinstripes) has a combined ERA of 4.20 and over the last three games
(not counting Tuesday), their ERA is a dismal 8.68. Runs don't seem
to be a problem lately in games started by Mussina as an average of
11.8 total runs have been scored in the last five games in which he
has started. New York is healthy right now and I think there's a very
good chance that the somewhat dormant Yankee bats will come to life
in this one so take the 'over' here. As always, good luck...Al
                    McMordie.
