The MIDDLING 3 Wise Men Report Wednesday 6/1/05

For the 2nd night in a row we hit a middle as Ryan Dempster slammed the door in the bottom of the 10 th at LA . Both the 9th and 10 th innings were pretty hairy to say the least. I know Kmann was jumping for joy when he woke up at 3:30 AM and checked the score … I'm sure he squinted and rechecked the score. I would have called him but wasn't about to wake The Pope from his beauty sleep.

We're hoping you all nailed it too. Please let us know if you played it last night. Start developing your own feel for trapping games … it's always amusing when we hit 2 unsuspecting lard ass bookies at the same time like cat burglars in the night. … keep a low profile … earn money quietly …. always the best way !!!

    The Plays for Wednesday:

    1* San Diego -130

    1½ * Toronto + 105

Note: Kmann leans to Arizona on Money Line and I lean to The NY Mets on the Run Line. The posted O/U is 8 . Consider laying -105 with Arizona AND playing The Mets on the Run Line ( +1 ½ -165 ) … feeling is not as strong as last night's Cub / Dodger trap but a ½ * would be a decent play.

Note: Kmann also feels we should come right back with the Cubs / Dodgers and the more I look at the game the more I agree … The O/U is posted at 8 . This time Play The LA Dodgers on the ML at -165 AND The Cubs on the Run Line at ( +1 ½ -135 ) … PLAY FOR ½ * …. Middles don't come very often and we are not going to force them but since we have the matchups we want …. Let's go with them for now.

    High Lines:

    Angels of Anaheim RL ( +1 ½ -170 )

    Indians of Cleveland RL ( +1 ½ -185 )

    ****************************************

Tuesday Result: 4-3 with a decent profit as our Top Play won again.

    2* Texas -125 Won

    ½* Atlanta -120 Loss

    ½* Florida -125 Loss

    ½* Philadelphia -140 Won

    ½* NY Mets -140 Loss

Note : The above 4 games Played at ½ * just made it as minimal plays.

Note : Chicago Cubs -105 on the ML AND LA Dodgers (+1 ½ -165 ) on the RL . With the O/U set at 7 we have a decent chance at another Middle. Note that Neither side is a play. .. the middle is a play. Won and Won

    High Line Plays:

    St. Louis -160 Loss
    Angels of Anaheim RL ( +1 ½ -160 ) Won
    Tampa Bay RL ( + 1 ½ -185 ) Loss
    Toronto RL ( + 1 ½ -180 ) Won

    50 returns 265 Loss

    *************************************

The Record: first on a flat 100 Fazools per game, then on a 100/ Star basis.

    4*

    3 ½* .... 1-0 .... +100 ….. +100 ( counted as a 1* due to high Line )

    3* ….. .. 3-0 ….. +300 ….. +900

    2 ½* ….. 2-1 ….. +100 ….. +250

    2* ….... 14-11 ….. +50 ….. +100

    1 ½* ….15-10 …..+395 ….. +590

    1* ….... 55-62 …. -1350 … -1350

    ½* …... 22-12 …. +1135 … +570

    Summary of all plays:

    112 - 96 overall

    Flat 100 / game : +730

    100 / Star : +1160

    High Line Parlays -125

Run Line Plays: 30-21 (already factored in with the above rundown )

CB, when you say middle, you mean do a parlay correct? Thanks.

No ... a middle is winning both sides of the same game with straight bets ... one side on the money line and the other side on the run line taking +1 1/2 Runs.

Yesterday Gilbert came in and asked about middling a baseball game . Here is how I responded:

              Hey Gil -

Last night we played the Padres on the Money Line to win straight up . In the same game we played the other side ... Milwaukee +1 1/2 Runs on the Run Line

San Diego won the game 3-2

Think now - We won the San Diego bet ( Straight up )

We also won the Milwaukee bet because we took 1 1/2 Runs with them and they lost by only 1 Run

              Winner .... Winner !!!! Both ends .

Tonight we're going to try it again with The Cubs and the Dodgers.

If the Cubs win by 1 Run - we hit both ends again .

Once in a while we pull this off but only when the O/U of a game is small ... Last night the SD / Milwaukee total was 8 .

Tonight the Cub / LA total is 7 .

              Hope this helps, Gil

SF - see how it works ? With a baseball game we have won 2 bets in the same game by playing 1 on the money line ( to win straight up ) and the other side by taking 1 1/2 runs . If the team you bet straight up wins by 1 run both bets have covered.

Let me know if you have any doubts or questions.

              -Neil

Hmmmm ... you can parlay the 2 ... but it's all or nothing ... Let me think about this one ... LOL

In the meantime try to grasp the art of the middle.

                          Coverboy,

I hit the middle last night on that Cubbie and Dodger game!

Goodluck on today's games, and thanks for the report. Let's get stuck in the middle again tonight!

If possible do you guys think it is cost effective to play both teams +1.5 when trying to middle a game? You would play the dog on the RL and favorite on the alternate RL. I know you'll be laying a lot more Chalk but you gain a little more wiggle room. I guess I wouldn't do this if I either team was more than -200. Just curious to know your thoughts on this.

Thanks again and lets start June off with a bang!

Let's take the Arizona / Met game tonight.

                            For a 100 Middle:

                            100 Arizona Straight up -105
                            100 Mets +1 1/2 -165

                            If Arizona Wins by 2 or more ... +100 -165 = -65

                            If Mets Win 100 -105 = -5

                            If Arizona wins by 1 100 + 100 = 200

The most you can lose is 65

The most you can win is 200.

                            Now for a Parlay:

                            A 100 parlay laying -105 and -165 pays out 213 .. both must win .

If either loses you lose 100 .

Clearly the middle is the correct procedure.

hmmmmm ... either team can win by 1 run ... interesting ... excellent question and I like the way you're thinking ... let me get back to you on that one ... the answer lies in whether or not the juice makes it prohibitive ... as in risk / reward .

Not Bad Pal .. lets crunch the numbers.
