ESPN just said Mark Prior has a fractured elbow and will be out at least 6-8 weeks! Looks like the Cubs only bright spot just got dark! If they are out 10 games or more when he is ready to come back, chances are he'll stay out the rest of season!

Nice to have won money on the Cubbies. They try so hard to be up near the Braves and top teams with their pitching. Sosa is gone and the magic is dissolving with Prior out now. Maddox is inconsistent. Sure sounds like a year where they may move some players in trades for the future.

With or w/out Prior the Cubbies are shit this year. There is no team chemistry, team lacks veteran leadership, manager is one of the worst in baseball, their best SP is a "Zambrano" mental case and their pen just flat sucks. Wood is the one true leader and he's hurt as well. Another true professional is also toast.... Nomar. The season is a grind and leadership and professionalism which directly equate to team chemistry cannot be underestimated. On the bright side, at least they don't have some talented youngsters learning to be aloof, self serving individuals like A-Ram, Zambrano, etc. Patterson is the one breath of fresh air that shows up to play every night. They need to clean house at the top startin' w/ Baker. He has lost this team. Fortunately for the Cubbies their fans love them no matter what. They deserve better. God I miss Harry Carey."33"Comment

Well this is good news ...
CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs on Saturday traded right-handed pitcher LaTroy Hawkins to the San Francisco Giants for right-handed pitchers Jerome Williams and David Aardsma.
Hawkins, who signed as a free agent with the Cubs prior to 2004, was 6-8 with a 2.76 ERA in 98 games with Chicago.
Williams, 23, has seen action with both the Giants and their Triple-A affiliate this year. He was 10-7 with a 4.24 ERA last year with the big-league club.
Aardsma, 23, is in his third professional season and has gone 13-7 with a 2.86 ERA in 71 Minor League games.Comment

Now we were not expecting the second coming of Ricky Henderson (NO SHIT THE CUBS SHOULD REALLY SIGN THIS GUY....WE ARE NOT MAKING JOKES...RICKY SHOULD BE STARTING FOR THE CUBS IN LF RIGHT NOW AND LEADING OFF...THIS IS NOT SARCASM) but we did not expect this shit: .244 1 RBI (fuck you) 3 SBs and 4 CS. You are less than 50% successful at stealing bases???? Also in the game against Milwaukee you just watched a completely catchable ball fall right in front of your face for a loss. Dusty Baker The king of excuses and making lame comments like "This will make us stronger." You know what Dusty this is not a bench press competition...it is a fucking baseball season.
