Kolb is garbage. He did make the all-star team last season, but he faded badly in the second half. He was not reliable at all late last season. It's amazing the Brewers got such good value for the guy - getting Atlanta's top pitching prospect. And now we got Turnbow as our closer. Except for Sunday's meltdown vs the Twins, he's been great. You're right GV, the Brewski's are getting a good laugh out of this deal.

Cox is hardly a fool, he is however patient to a fault. Cox said that the Bravevs will be moving to a closer-by-committee system, which is what they are doing, it's just that Kolb is still part of that committee and may be used in save situations.
They used several pitchers in middle and long relief tonight who are also part of the closer committee. Bernero and Reitsma were both used tonight and Colon and Childers were used last night against the Sox.
I do agree that the Braves might be more successful following the Reds' example but they're too proud a team to admit that they made a huge mistake with Kolb, so they'll sacrifice a few blown saves in order to keep the possibility alive that picking up Kolb was the right move.
Furthermore it's the GM's decision about Kolb, not Bobby Cox's...

That's why he's a catcher....not a pitcher!!"That ain't working, that's the way you do it... get your money for nothing and your picks for free"
