  • Vegas comps question???

Going to Vegas Memorial Day weekend. I was just wondering how the comps work? How much money do I have to gamble to receive room comps or food comps etc?

if you put between 700 and 1000 in play a day over a 4 or 5 hour time frame//it doesnt matter what you play//the only other exception-if you like bet 10 on the dice-then load the 50x odds every roll where they are not getting their house advantage-also poker-but if you put in a lot of hours at the poker tables-most places will give you poker rates and free meals//just see the host and get a players card at the place your gambling//if you go up bet a 1000 on the dice and hit and run dont expect any comps//the casinos want you to put in 4 or 5 hours a day//doesnt matter if your winning or losing// in fact may comp you better if your winning because they know its a matter of time with the house odds..

I am going to Vegas at the same time. I play blackjack mostly and get comped all the time. I am getting 2 rooms comped this time out. My wife loves to play as well so they take care of us pretty good. Hope you have fun and you hit it big.

At Paris, where I usually stay, if you're playing blackjack you must average between $50 - $75 a hand for an average of 4 hours a day to receive a free room.

GL, I'll be there in 2 weeks.

My opinion on comps is a bit different.
I believe if you play with the intentions of being comped you end up losing.
Play what you feel comfortable with, and comps will take care of themself.
I am a proponent of takeing the money and running. I would much rather win at the tables then worry about how much time I have played at a table.
              Good luck to you.

My personal experience is that Paris and New York new york are the friendliest with the comps.

I'm staying at Mandalay Bay. I mostly stick with the sportsbook. But for table games I usually play blackjack $50-$100 per hand. As far as time I usually play until I reach a certain goal or lose a certain amount, no matter what the time is. Does the amount I buy-in with matter. Would I get more points if I buy-in with $1000 or just $300-$400. Are the points equal to real dollar amount? ie. 1 point= 1 dollar. I never bothered to get a players card last year because I did my gambling in alot of different casinos.

Lewis, I hear you buddy. Let's kick some casino ass. Have a great time. Where you staying?

                    Mike,

In my experience, you should just ask them. Most hosts or pit bosses are approachable on this. I usually play enough to get meal comps and reduced room rates (but not rooms comped). I just ask how much do I have to do to get this. The slot club booth is also very helpful. If you're playing $50 a hand, it should be good enough to get you something. Also, if you get a players card and use it, they'll send you all sorts of offers in the mai (many are good!) And, just for signing up they might give you something on the spot (free uffet or stuff like that if it interests you).

By the way, Mandalay Bay's sports book is the onl;y bad thing about the casino.

Playing 50-100 a hand at BlackJack should be good enough for comps. Getting comps through the sportsbook is tough. They look for big dollar bets. Horses earns points differently, usually 2 - 1. But still tough. Always use a players card, even at the sportsbook. Some sportsbooks have separate players cards.
When you go to a table lay down cash, don't go with chips. Color out after each session and cash them in before sitting for another session. I've been told when you go with chips they (casinos) see it as still their money. When you lay out cash you're playing with your money not theirs. That's what they want.

What more answers do you want?

It is based on the amount of your average bet and just as important is the length of time you play everyday. It doesn't matter if you are winning or losing.

                            Thanks for the info guys.

Griswold, What's wrong with the mandalay Bay sportsbook? It's actually my favorite.

Wrightmove, I'll definately be enjoying the pool. As long as I get my ass out of bed after all the long night of partying. I still want to take home some winnings though. I'll rely mostly on NBA hoops and baseball.
