Braves bullpen sucks!

Hampton and Thomson left in the 5th on consecutive days, leaving the bullpen (usually accustomed to pitching the 7th, 8th and 9th...like most clubs) to pitch 4+ innings 2 days in a row.

The first outing the bullpen pieced together a nice patchwork win with 4(?) relievers taking the last 4+ innings. You can't expect them to do that twice in a row especially in the middle of a long (12-game) road trip and without a break in between.

I think that Smoltz will be in top form tonight and he'll give the bullpen the rest they need to be at the top of their game. One can only hope
