3 Wise Men MLB Friday 5/13/05
Tampa Bay at K.C. last night was the “ Smashed Windshield “ Game oy the Year if I ever saw one. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term I’ll explain : You and your buddy are driving to Kaufmann Stadium to see that game. You’re almost there but first you decide to stick your faces in some nearby bar for a few pops. You accidentally leave your 2 tickets on the dashboard. After a few you get back to the car only to discover that your windshield has been demolished … and there are now 4 tickets to the game on the dash.
Then what happens ? We lose a rain abbreviated stop and go 4 hour game.
Tonight there are 10 home teams who return home after road trips … 7 of these 10 teams had to cross 3 time zones along the way . It will be interesting to see how these teams fare. I’m a believer that teams off of extended road trips in all sports tend to be flat their first game back home. Frankie B’s stats prove me to be right but only a little more often than not.
